In a recent visit to Pineville Pets I had questions that needed answers. Well, the staff is too busy talking amongst themselves and the owner sat and watched as puzzled over my next purchase. When I had waited long enough I went directly to the owner/manager and asked about a Chameleon purchase and if he could get one for me. The owner took a minute to answer, then with a rude tone said they come in when I can get them!?! John, the owner, never looked up at me to acknowledge his customer, instead hide behind his desk as if what he was doing was more important than helping a paying customer! Also the reptile cages looked as though they have not been cleaned in a month, GROSS and cruel!! The puppies are stuffed 2-4 in a single crate and allowed to beat up on one another and roll in their own feces! I recommend LAST PLACE ON EARTH for all your pet needs @ 5655 N. Tryon St. Here the staff is helpful, keep all the animals clean and free from harm. BTW local breeders are normally selling inbreed pups which is what Pineville Pets sell!
Pros: Easy to EXIT
Cons: Horrible turtle smell!!

I own many animals and have lived in many areas. I went to Pineville Pets a few months ago for the first time. It is a small family owned store, the manager/owner is John. He has the most knowledge about a variety of animals than anyone I have ever met. I always learn something new when I go in there. The rest of the staff is very knowledgeable too. They don't buy their puppies from large kennels, they use only locally hand picked breeders. I have a neighbor that bought a dog from them and had nothing but good things to say. The store is clean, but since it is small and family owned isn't as "pretty" as the chain stores. Their prices are reasonable and in some cases cheaper than the chain stores. I would highly recommend this store to anyone.
Pros: great staff, good selection, products no one else has, clean store, cares about the animals
Cons: not the "prettiest" store around, location isn't great

I love Pineville Pets! They have the most knowledgable staff. When looking for a puppy I was told never to buy one from a pet store, but you can tell when you talk to the employees that they really love the animals and would do anything to ensure their health and safety. I have had my chihuahua for two years now and they still remember his name! They truely know their animals and I can't wait to buy my next pet through them.
Pros: The staff knows their animal information, and are not shy about not recommending an animal or product.
Cons: Some people may think they are arrogant or rude. Beware they are not a petting zoo and will not allow you to play with the animals unless you are looking to purchase.
