Fun Mexican Restaurant with Mariachi Band on Fridays
by Stacy8687 at Citysearch
Don't be put off that Azteca Mexican Restaurant is part of the Days Inn, haha! It has great food, very fast service, and even a fresh guacamole cart (what more could you need?!) My family and I went for my birthday and they were all a little worried about the place until they sat down. The waiters are always great with their service, the price is inexpensive, and I love the food. Also, they might have the best "Happy Birthday" song from the waiters in town!!! I'm pretty sure it was a whole band and they sang 3 songs...plus a sombrero! Always a good time at Azteca.
- Pros: Mariachi band on Friday nights and good margaritas!
- Cons: Don't be put off because it is part of the Days Inn :)
Best in Charlotte

My fiance and I usually go to Azteca at least once a month. I've never had a bad experience here. We usually split an order of the fajitas and both leave satisfied. I, unlike some of the other reviewers, like Azteca for what it is: good, quick Mexican food. This is not the fanciest, most "authentic" Mexican but that would seem pretty apparent if you were willing to do any homework beforehand.
- Pros: Good food, great service, reasonably priced
- Cons: Music in the bar is too loud
Azteca has good food

My husband likes this spot and this location happens to be the one we've been trying. Great food, good hospitality. Lunch prices are a bargain, dinner dishes are truly authentic.
- Pros: A little treat at the end
terrible and generic
by adamacus at Citysearch
Why are the reviews for this place good? Generic pseudo-mexican slop. We ordered from the more "authentic" portion of the menu, and the execution was very poor - why bother? The pork carnitas was tough, and appeared to have been deep fried, and tasted vaguely of teriyaki for some reason. The arroz con pollo somehow tasted like chicken cacciatore. All the flavors were muddy and indistinct. The margaritas were gigantic, but disgustingly sweet, and contained not nearly enough alcohol to make up for this poor dining experience. This place is inferior to pretty much any chain mexican restaurant.
- Pros: large portions
- Cons: awful food
Not Great

We eat at Mexican Restaurants all the time. Read the reviews and thought we'd try it. Terrible!! They don't give you nearly enough chips and salsa. (1/2 a basket and 1/2 a small bowl) and after you have 2 baskets they charge you $3 for the 3rd. The plates are HUGE!! which was good and the burrito was yummy. We also got done with our meal in less than 30 mins because we were in a hurry to get to a Bobcats game. Had to send a quesadilla back because it was WAY to cheesy and un-eatable. The rice and beans weren't great. But the service was great. Overall, If you're looking for Mexican food in Charlotte I'd look for somewhere else.
- Pros: Burrito, Fast Service
- Cons: Rice/Beans, Quesadilla, Chips/Salsa
YUMMY!

This Mexican restaurant has THE BEST pico de gallo. My husband and I buy it by the pint to take home and eat. Margaritas are good and the food is even better.
Everything a lover of Mexican food could want.

The Food
The starter salsa and tortillas are so good you have to be careful not to fill up, but don't be tempted to skip the meal in favor of a chip-and-dip frenzy. The lunch specials are generously portioned and nicely varied. For an out-of-the-ordinary lunch choice, try huevos rancheros instead. Many think of it as a breakfast dish, but it's a nice contrast to a companion's burrito or chimichanga--particularly if you get to sample off each others' plates.
Skip the taco in favor of a combo or a chicken dish.
The Scene
You might be concerned at Azteca's close proximity to a motel--not always what you're looking for in a restaurant. In this case, the location is irrelevant, except that its convenience draws voluminous lunch crowds. Plan to eat off-peak or be prepared to wait. It's worth it.

Its the same thing. Noone in Charlotte (or east of the Mississippi for that matter) knows Mexican food. Its terrible, frozen, and just plain bad. This place is for those that like Pace's Picante sauce, refried beans with cheese, and Taco Bell. By the way, its the best that Charlotte has to offer.
Treat yourself to this one!!!!

You know when you apporach the parking lot, that the food has to be great. Once you are seated inside, you know you are in for a grand treat. The wait staff is so friendly and you won't find your glass empty. They are very attentive. The food...oh my goodness...you will love it. Certainly a huge amount of food per order, be preparred to take home the left overs.
