Great food and service
by queencity34
I took my clients here for a late lunch and was so pleased with the whole experience. I usually have my favorite places to take clients so I don't look bad if the place is bad but I heard great things about this place and would recommend it to anyone. The homemade chips were tasty.
- Pros: quick service, good menu
Great food and service...
by alicewonder
This was one of the first places I ate at when I moved here and is by far my favorite. The porkchops are out of this world. Its not uptight but its not low class either. Just a great place to either have a drink or take the family. I am very happy this place was recommended to me.
- Pros: Everything
- Cons: Nothing
OK food, not so good service.

We recently visited Village Tavern for lunch. This restaurant has been in Charlotte for many years. I ate there right after it opened and remember it being a good experience. This recent visit was not very good. Our waiter spoke so fast we could not understand what he was saying. He seemed very frantic. After studying the menu we ordered appetizers. About 5 minutes later we ordered entrees. Not much time passed and our entrees were delivered to our table but no apps. I told the server we had not received our apps yet. I mentioned it would be nice to have the apps first, she offered to take the entrees away, but not wanting to be difficult I declined. Overall the mixed app plate was very good and a decent sized portion. My friends burger was good. I ordered shrimp scampi and it was very greasy and overloaded with garlic and this is coming from a garlic lover!
- Pros: Nice ambiance
- Cons: Service
Great food as a treat
by MTEXX
I work on the same block as the VT. At about 15$ for lunch it's not my usual fare; it's a treat. Especially during the outdoor months- they have a huge patio for dining. Ive read the other reviews and tend to agree that the service needs improvement. My observation is that they are understaffed. However, the food is great. My favorite dish is the rainbow trout; I've had that about 6 times now. Oh, I forgot to mention- it's fortunate I walk there because the parking lot is always full.
- Pros: Great food, fancy menu, outdoor seating (in season)
- Cons: Service, parking
Humm, oh well, good luck

We visited this establishment after hearing about it on the LINK radio 107.9.
We had Marinated Flank Steak and Braised Short Ribs. It took the better part of 35 minutes to get the food after it was ordered, which was good but not excellent. This was after waiting 45 minutes for a table and sending up flares for a waitress. The Flank Steak was suppose to have Garlic Mashed potatoes but I believe they forgot the potatoes somewhere in the preparation, It could be safe to say no Vampires frequent this place.
Like the other reviews, the ability of the wait staff is in serious doubt.
the menu maybe four star, but the staff is not.
While waiting for our table, we finally had to sit at the bar. We were as good as not there after we paid for our drinks.
Our ages are in the 50's definitely not a place for anyone over 30.
- Pros: The meat items were cooked to order and tasty.
- Cons: Service, seating, courtesy, side items are not prepared well
Delicious Food & Great Seating but Terrible Service!
by BaileyBWP
This place well...the food is fabulous, the outdoor seating is one of the best in Charlotte, the service was pretty bad. As the previous person wrote...be prepared to wait for quite some time for a table if there is warm weather. Although while you wait you can order a drink and stand/sit outside enjoying the weather and people watching. The food was exemplary for this type of restaurant. I highly recommend the Bacon Wrapped Scallions or the Blackened Soft Tacos. Both were a great twist on an old favorite. However the service was horrible, the waitress spent alot of time talking to the next table about how "hot" their son was. Before we were seated they attempted to make 3 people share a menu because they were running low and then only gave us 2 sets of silverware and 2 napkins for 3 people. One of the busboy/hosts pointed his finger at us and gave an attitude when we asked for more silverware. The bartender was very rude he never once smiled, asked us how we were or anything like that, then while giving him our drink order he walked away in the middle of the order! The waitress never came back after our food was brought to us and we had to flag her down to bring our check. But I gave it 4 stars because everything else was great and I am hoping that they were just having a rough night!
See and be seen. It's where SouthPark's young and beautiful mingle.

The Scene
There are few better activities in Charlotte than spending a spring afternoon lounging on the tavern's huge patio, sipping a cold beer and munching on one of the restaurant's appetizers. The patio overlooks a SouthPark wooded scene rather than a parking lot or a street. Appetizer-wise, the hand-cut potato chips or the spinach dip are delicious. The salads also are worthy offerings.
wait

Excellent outdoor dining! Thursday, Friday & Saturday - Slam packed. Be prepared to wait a long time! But the wait is worth it if you are with a fun group of people. Hang out, relax and get a drink. Wonderful experience every time.
- Pros: ambience, food, service
- Cons: wait, wait, wait
