The best vegetarian lunch in Charlotte
by Eizabeth
I eat lunch at Berrybrook almost every day. They have the best vegetarian homemade soups I've ever eaten - even better than Mom's. And there's black bean burritos and vegiburgers and vegetarian hot dogs - all really good. I've had meat eater friends who said they couldn't tell the difference. And if that's not enough they make fresh salads to order and they have cold sandwiches in the cooler. They make fresh juices and smoothies - the absolute best smoothies - all natural - real yummie.
The only problem is they have no tables. You can sit on the porch if the weather is good, but its really a take out place. In the good weather months I like to pick up my food and go to the park for lunch. Sometimes I order ahead so they have it ready when I get there to save time. Sometimes I order and then shop in the store while I wait - never a long wait. I get all my vitamins and shampoo and lotions and such there.
But the food is always so good its worth it and I don't mind that they don't have tables. So I totally recommend it if you haven't tried it.
- Pros: The best vegetarian food and service
- Cons: no tables, but thats no biggie
Health food, groceries and a fine vegetarian lunch counter.

In Short
Don't expect to find Skippy and DiGiorno here. The store's mission is to offer healthful alternatives--pizza with soy cheese or peanut butter with that layer of oil on top. Look for organic items that stray from mainstream packaged foods. The popular Burt's Bees personal care items are available, along with other cosmetics and soaps made with all-natural ingredients. The lunch counter serves sandwiches and smoothies with daily specials that don't involve meat.
