Believe the hype
by Hotlanta Boy
First time there and can't wait to go back. Ate it at home a few hours after we bought it. It was great, but next time I'll eat it in the car when it's still hot. The chicken is very moist and the skin is crispy. The livers are nice and crispy too. The potato salad is good, the slaw is a little soupy. The prices are ridiculously cheap. Give it a try, you won't regret it.
- Pros: Great white meat and livers
- Cons: Skip the slaw
Grease is not a spice
by maninthemoon
There is no seasoning. None. The only "spice" is a packet of salt you get in your box of chicken. Maybe this is how Southern fried chicken is supposed to taste, but if you're from another part of the country, you will be disappointed.
- Pros: Crisp and juicy
- Cons: No flavor
Greasy Not Fit To Eat
by crystalclear7
OMG I had heard the hype over this place when I first moved to charlotte. I had a chance to eat their it was terrible, food greasy and not fit to eat.......maybe you will have better luck than I did.
Great Southern Chicken Ecofriendly
by gdinn
This ain't a wing ranch. Go for the breast , dark meat, or chicken livers. You won't be disappointed. Get there about 11:30 AM or before if you can. There is a usually a line (nuff said about how good it is). Their takeout box is eco-friendly as it is made of cardboard - not styrofoam.
- Pros: Excellent food and service
- Cons: Sometimes a line forms.
DID WE ORDER THE WRONG THING????
by SHIANDJAYSMOM
OK I TOOK MY BOYFRIEND TO CHARLOTTE (WE LIVE IN VA) FOR HIS BIRTHDAY IN JANUARY OF 08' TO SEE THE PISTONS VS BOBCATS(HE'S A DIE HARD PISTONS FAN) BUT ANYWAY WE WERE GONNA BE THERE FOR 3 DAYSAND I WANTED US TO EAT AT LOCAL RESTAURANTS ONLY SO I SURFED THE NET TO FIND OUT WHAT THEY HAD TO OFFER AND RAN ACROSS PRICE'S. WELL NEEDLESS TO SAY I BROUGHT INTO THE HYPE OF THE PLACE AND SOON AS WE TOUCHED DOWN THATS WHERE WE WENT(BAD MOVE) THE FOOD WAS BELOW AVERAGE WE BOTH ORDERED THE CHICKEN WING MEAL WHICH WE DIDNT OPEN UNTIL WE GOT TO OUR ROOM WELL IT HAD MAYBE 6 LITTLE DRUMMETTES,TATER TOTS AND A ROLL. THE CHICKEN WAS TOO HARDWITH NO TASTE AND DID NOT FILL US UP AT ALL. I WAS REALLY EXPECTING SOME BANGIN CHICKEN FROM READING THOSE REVIEWS AND THIS JUST DIDNT CUT IT. THE ONLY REASON I'M WRITING A REVIEW 6MTHS LATER IS BECAUSE I WAS LISTENING TO STEVE HARVEY THE OTHER DAY AND HE'S HAVING HIS ANNUAL HOODIE AWARDS AND IT WAS TIME FOR HIM TO READ THE RESULTS FOR BEST CHICKEN PLACE AND YES YOU GUESSED IT NOT ONLY DID PRICES MAKE THE LIST BUT THEY WERE VOTED NUMBER ONE. WHICH MADE ME ASK DID WE ORDER THE WRONG CHICKEN??????
- Pros: WORKERS WERE VERY FRIENDLY
- Cons: FOOD WAS BAD
Perfectly seasoned, cooked fried chicken
by aravenel
This place is as no-frills as it gets. Cash only, no seating, cinder-block walls. But that's OK--it's about the chicken. And that chicken is phenomenal. Perfectly seasoned, and perfectly cooked. Even the white-meat chicken, which at most places is dried out and bland, was juicy and flavorful. I was quite impressed. The sides are nothing to write home about, but are adequate, and since the focus is so solidly on the chicken, who cares? Very, very good chicken.
- Pros: Amazing chicken, cheap
- Cons: Sides are merely adequate, but the chicken is so good it doesn't matter
All Hype
by littlegirltree
Finally made it through the circus of getting an order from Price's. This place is legendary, but it didn't live up to it's reputation. The cashiers are helpless and accidentally gave me an extra drink, but the place was so packed I just left other than fight the crowd and give the extra drink back. The food was bland and a huge disappointment. I guess I'm one of the few people in this town able to judge a restaurant on it's substance than it's myth.
- Pros: Non-Chain Chicken Restaurant
- Cons: All Hype and No Flavor
UMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Just down right good!!!!!!!!
by kerie21
The best fried chicken in town..... I was impressed. The livers and gizzards are the best part of it.
However don't expect fancy it is a litltle take out food place with no tables and very long lines.
This is the best chicken anywhere!!!!!!
by cathiesblogg
Sure, it is not in a so great location, sure it is really small and cramped, sure the parking sometimes is not so desirable..but let me tell you...the food here is the best!!!....my only complaint..is they need to have one closer to the Pineville N.C. area...
- Pros: good food..service..
- Cons: not so good location, parking is to be desired if they are crowded
Needs some spice
by montgomeryburns
This place consistenly ranks as the most popular fried chicken place in Charlotte, and I can see why. The meat is very moist, the skin and crust are crispy. Overall, the chicken is good from a technical perspective. But what it lacks is spice. There's no flavor! The problem is, I haven't been anywhere in Charlotte that has fried chicken with flavor! If anyone knows a place that has spice, please let everyone know. It's the best in Charlotte, but if you've had fried chicken outside of Charlotte, you'll know what I mean.
- Pros: Juicy chicken
- Cons: Needs spice and flavor
