Take a walk back in time...from the outside store sign to the lettered menu board you truly get the feel of the great "American grill" pastime. Good value and fun to eat there or take out. You can tell they have quite the following from construction workers and families to bankers and business people. Cash only and serves Pepsi products. greenslunch dotcom

Best Hot Dog is Charlotte

Green's Lunch is a Charlotte institution. They have been in business of over 80 years, since 1926. It is a friendly atmosphere with fast service, and good food. Their hot dogs are served on a soft steamed bun and fixed to order. All the way is mustard, ketchup, chili, onions, and slaw, however they have relish and kraut if you want it. My parents took me to Green's when I was small, and I took my kids, and now my kids take their kids.It has become our meeting place every Saturday. When you go there you will see familiar faces all the time, and if you are a loyal customer, they even remember your order. There is alot of history at Green's and alot of famous people have eaten there. I asked the owner once, what is the secret of Green's hot dogs, and she replied, it is their secret homemade chili, only two people know how to make the chili. If you truely want a good HOT DOG go to Green's Lunch, they are the best.
- Pros: Good food, fast service, friendly atmosphere, good price
- Cons: Weekdays have to park on the street, Sat you can park in the parking lot
A simple formula that has held up over time.

In Brief
This unassuming joint has been serving hot dogs to downtown lunchers since constructing a four-story building meant doubling the height of the next-tallest one. You can get other stuff here, but if you order something besides a dog, you'll get strange looks-- and won't get a hot dog, which is the whole reason for coming. Though the hot dogs themselves aren't all that special-- they're kind of dinky, though moist, and served on a plain white bun-- that isn't the point. Walking up to the counter, glancing over your shoulder at an amazing picture of the place taken way before you were born and ordering a couple hot dogs with sweet tea-- that's being a part of the city.
Quality Dogs for a decent price

Green's has got good food for a low price. Two dogs "all the way", fries and a drink is the way to go. I wouldn't say that they are the best dogs in Charlotte, but for the price, they are good.
