Joe's Crab Shack is the place to have seafood in Charlotte! Great place to celebrate a birthday and have some fun!

Admittedly kitschy, unavoidably noisy, this Red Lobster for rug rats is like an oversized seaside shanty awash in oceanic memorabilia--fishing nets, souvenir trinkets, plastic flotsam and jetsam. Staffed with a lively crew of G-rated table-dancing servers, the family-friendly chain anchors its menu in all things crab: Crab balls, crab cakes, crab dip, crab gumbo. Finicky children opt for corndogs or hamburgers; shellfish-phobic adults dine on rib eye steak or mesquite-grilled chicken.

Good for kids if you don't mind sand

We were seated promptly and had a nice if not the fastest waitress there. We sat outside so that the kids could play on the play area that was sanded and safe. The kids had a great time and I got to eat my crab in peace. The food was typical joes crab fare. They accomadated our clams as a main kids dish request. We enjoyed our repast. Though I had to get up and get my own crab crackers and ask twice for more butter, which took over 10 min to get to my table, in the mean time I ate my husbands.
