Average Food

We went here with a group of 4 to have sushi. The waitress said it was the best sushi in Charlotte, we didn't find that to be the case. We ordered mostly spicy tuna and the Dynamite rolls. Neither had much flavor and the rolls themselves were quite small. They also didn't have much fish in them.

We also ordered Gyoza and Calamari for appetizers. The calamari was good, but the gyoza wasn't as good as other similar restaurants.

The ambiance is nice, but in our experience the food was disappointing.

Decent sushi

We enjoyed trying the different sushi options on this menu. Flavors were good, but a tad bland. But to be fair maybe it's just the selections we chose to eat.

We will try again one day for the outdoor dining ambience.

Best Sushi....Best Customer Service!

Excellent food! Fast service. Sit out on the patio if the weather is nice...especially at night. Favorite dish is the cherry blossom that was recommended by my server!!!!

volcano sushi is the bomb

This has become my husband and my favorite QUICK BITE to eat in Ballantyne Village before heading to the movie theater upstairs. If you get there around 6-7 ish weekdays, there is no crowd. The wine is good and the sushi is very good. We do like the creative, new sushi styles like dynamite sushi with crunchy fillers. The waiter we had gave us his recommendations and we went with everything he said. We were thoroughly pleased and loved the volcano rolls WOW-wait till you see how cool they look and taste how great they are. I am so bored with california rolls and find that only sushi newbies eat those because they are afraid of raw fish. Don't be-try some tuna rolls and anything with cooked eel is awesome-sweet, tender meat that has its own flavor. I love it! We had the dumpling appetizer and it was unique and very tasty. Great place to catch up with your loved one with good food, good wine and conversation. Wait staff is very young and hip looking and there is balcony dining for warm nights overlooking the fountain (hope they turn it back on this summer if we get enuf rain!)

Best Sushi in South Charlotte

We have been to Jade many times. We have always been happy with the quality of the sushi. In the past, the service wasn't as good as it has been lately. We have had good luck with the wait staff recently even when it is very busy on the weekends. We usually order sushi and some of the more simple rolls. We don't like a lot of extra ingredients with our sushi or the extra sauces they sometimes add to the special rolls to make it look contemporary. The atmosphere is quieter than the "uptown" sushi restaurant and the food is equal in quality. Give it a try and be sure to make a reservation if you're going on the weekend.

avoid sushi and one waiter in particular

i had just written a great review of this place a few days ago. then i decided to take a friend and we were both very disappointed. our waiter forgot our appetizer, argued with us about what we wrote on our sushi order, the sushi was warm, and the water tasted like mop water. this is the second time i've gotten warm sushi there.

• Cons: warm sushi and bad wait staff
