Simply Delicious!. This restaurant is for those who want something different and great food! Very intimate atmosphere...good for a night out for two. Very modern, but, quaint. Everything we tried was excellently prepared and presented. Sea Bass was great! We had a lot of seafood-type dishes, including the seafood bisque. Nothing but fresh taste hit our taste buds! Desserts were the perfect finish, not too heavy. Try the trio of creme brulee(s). Waiter was very helpful and came to our table at just the right frequency, without us having to flag him down. Couldn't ask for a better night for two.…
Terrible! Will not Be Going Back.
My husband and I were really excited about trying Global after reading all of the great reviews......Did we go to a different restaurant?
Our food was terrible, I couldn't finish my starter or main course and my husband struggled through his. To make matters even worse, after spending over $160 for two, my husband was SICK shortly after we got home. I called the restaurant to inform them that they should investigate what might have made him ill so to prevent someone else from getting food poisoning! The chef owner was very rude and unapologetic. I was shocked.
WHAT A HORRIBLE EVENING! Save your money and stomach and go elsewhere.…
BAD expensive food!!. WORST food we've had in years and the most expensive! The meat, lamb, we had was presented like a bowl of mush. Not only did the sauce taste bad, but the meat was OLD!! Old rotting meat!! The She Crab soup had dryed ground up freezer burnt pieces of fish in it!! The Paella was not good and tasted of corn starch. The other soup, escarole, was identical to blended grass with water, salt and red pepper in it. IF, we ate it, we would be running to the bathroom. Had to return it, so bad! I'm sorry we did not talk to friends about it first, they had same bad food and said never go there. Service was also poor. How does a restaurant get away with serving old meat?…
Eclectic Menu for those wanting a taste sensation.
A variety of menu items well prepared and presented in a manner that you will not find just anywhere. The food is excellent. The ambiance shouts classy. The dining experience is relaxed and
unpretentous. The waitstaff is pleasant and friendly. It's location keeps it tucked away, but it's worth finding in a Ballantyne office complex.
The first time I dined there, I found the menu to have so many things I wanted to try that the only solution was an appetizer "tower" that allowed me to experience a variety of dishes, while not having to commit to just one item.
New diners may want to give that a try.…
A true hidden gem. Global is a great addition to the Charlotte food scene. I love the fact that even though their food quality and ambiance would permit them to be snobby or arrogant, they aren't! They are truly attentive (but not overbearing) to every customer and the food delivers. I love the fact that the chef visits our table every time we're there--great touch. We've eaten at other so-called "great" restaurants in Charlotte and we've been ignored and underwhelmed. Global delivers on every front. If you haven't visited, make a reservation today!…
Ballantyne's Best Kept Secret!. If you haven't tried Global Restaurant Bar & Lounge yet, you are missing out! My husband I had dinner there this week for our anniversary and were just amazed at our experience. The wine list is extensive, the ambiance and decor tops most that I have seen and the food is incredible. You HAVE to try the scallops - we got them as an appetizer and I could eaten lots more! The chef came out and greeted the patrons (when is the last time you have seen that??) and our waiter was very attentive to us, despite a party of 10 that was seated at the same time as we were. I can't thank them enough for treating us special that evening, which includes a complimentary glass of champagne. Check them out - easy drive from anywhere in Charlotte and folks in Ballantyne....it's right in your backyard!!!…
Food was terrific...service mediocre. Overall, I like this restaurant, but I think a few things could be improved. We went to Global for my husband's birthday on a Saturday night and even though I had made a reservation in advance, we were seated in the back at the smallest available table near the area where the waiters were coming to and fro. This was disappointing. The service was adequate, but not superior and at this price point, it needs to be superior. That being said, the food was delicious. I had the lamb, which was very good and my husband had the paella which was excellent. The cocktails were well made and the wine list was very good.…
An incredible experience from the best restaurant in Charlotte.
This is my first review. My fiance and I discovered Global a year and a half ago at complete random. We were driving around area and saw a sign for Global. We were intrigued. We figured we couldn't
go wrong with a restaurant obviously inspired from all over the world. I knew it was going to be on the pricier/nicer side, and we were obviously dressed like we randomly chose this place, but the wait staff (including the owners) treated us first class. We've been greeted and talked to by the owners every time we've been there for that matter. I stress this, because that is extremely rare in Charlotte where everyone has some sense of entitlement. Our waiter, Steve, was absolutely incredible. He has been our waiter for every visit.
I'm a vegetarian, and I've always had something different each time. They do a great job of making their menu seasonal. Everything we have had has been absolutely top notch. We always come out saying, "That's the best thing I've ever had." The staff (Steve in this case) is incredibly knowledgeable of the wine selection as well. And the desserts, wow. I always hate leaving there knowing I'm going back to my cooking.
I know the issue of price v. quantity v. quality is mentioned with this restaurant, but here is how I see it. The portions are incredibly well made with amazing ingredients. The food is meant to leave you comfortable, not stuffed. For my income bracket, Global is a place to visit for special occasions. I always get my money's worth. I'd prefer a smaller, healthier portion where I pay more and I'm left incredibly satisfied to a larger, cheaper portion that is nowhere nearly as good of quality.
I honestly think Global is the best restaurant in Charlotte, and I have been to my fair share of high end restaurants. The location isn't the best, but there is ample parking. Overall this is a must visit restaurant, especially for special occasions that require an intimate atmosphere.…
Not a good business model.
We've been to Global a couple of times, and the service is great, especially the bartender. For the most part, we have enjoyed the food, except for one time my wife's pasta tasted like dishwasher
detergent, but stuff happens.
This is another example of a restaurant that is trying to get the maximum amount of money they can for each dish they prepare. If restaurants like this only realized, that instead of offering $15-25 dishes, but rather $10-15 dishes, they would actually make more money. Not only would they see more people come through the door, but they would also get more word of mouth. Plus, with every person you seat, that is just that much more money you make on drinks, etc. This is why a lot of restaurants tank. They try to get as much as they can.
Don't get me wrong, the food is good, but the value isn't. Not to mention the location is horrible. It's in the back of a business park away from the retail center, so unless you get a glimpse of one of his signs or someone tells you about the place, you'll never see it.…
Fine dining, varied cuisine, amazing service, warm atmosphere, great wine list. Global Restaurant in Charlotte, NC - Global is a fine dining restaurant in the Ballantyne area, just off I-485 and Johnston Road. This amazing restaurant features food from all over the world (hence the name). Bernard is the chef and owner. He was trained in France and has a gift for creating unique and spectacular dishes that delight the palate. His wife and co-owner, Shannon, has a wonderful command of their extensive wine list and an instinctive flair for choosing that special wine that will best compliment whatever food is ordered. The presentation of the food at Global is as special as the food itself. Bernard has a flair that rivals the best restaurants in the world, yet Shannon and Bernard bring to Global the warmth of dining in the home of a close friend. This restaurant is truly a gem in Charlotte?s crown and I hope you will add it to your list.…
