The City Cafe located in growing downtown Mt. Holly has yet to impress me. I first visited the Cafe for a catered family function held in their private room. It was a southern-style bar served buffet style, however, not enough food was prepared and the food that was prepared was cold. The buffet set-up was not helpful, as it was set up against the wall and lines had formed for each side. People were already going for second helpings by the time some people were getting their first plate. The next time I dined at City Cafe was for breakfast. This was also a buffet bar and the set up was the same. Visitors were widing around each other and there was no order to the line. Food was not hot this time either. I am supportive of what the City Cafe is trying to do in reviving the downtown Mt. Holly area, but they need to step up their game!

Avoid the Tilapia!

I ate at the City Cafe tonight with my family. I ordered the blackened Tiliapia. It was horrible. I complained to the server that it tasted really salty and she stated that it was the "seasoning". It tasted like salt to me, as a matter of fact that is all I tasted! I became sick immediately upon returning home. I was very courteous to the server and the lady at the payment counter when I informed them that my meal was not to my liking and no effort was made to do a thing. I paid for the entire crappy meal. I would not recommend this establishment.
