The most romantic Valentines Day I have had in a long time.

My soon to be husband and I have been together for 7 years and with any relationship sometimes you have to think outside the box to keeps things interesting and exciting. Well on Valentines Day my soon to be husband did just that. I was a little confused at first because we headed to the Northlake Mall. But as we came around the back only visible by a huge grape logo was this beautiful wine bar that simply took my breath away. I had been to the mall a dozen times and did not realize that The Grape even existed. It was reservations only for the Valentines dinner and as we entered I was presented with a rose from the owner himself. I was even more impressed when I read this awesome arrangement of a 4 course dinner and our choice of a bottle of wine (Oriel Portia) from ?The Grape? Love Pix Menu as they called it. The whole atmosphere at The Grape was just beautiful, deemed lights, music playing in the background by a male vocalist named Kevin Jones which was accompanied by a piano player and a saxophone player. The staff was very helpful, professional and with a packed restaurant it was timed perfectly. If everything was not perfect enough upon leaving we where handed a (him and her) gift bag. When I ask my fiance how in the world he picked such a great place he said that he found out about The Grape from your web page, so City Search thank you and thank you to The Grape for making our Valentines Day a night I will cherish.
- Pros: Great Service, Great Wine List, Food Excellent, Atmosphere very Romantic, Nothing like this in Charlotte

My husband and I don't know much about wine but went out here on date. The staff was really helpful and gave us great selections. The music and atmosphere was relaxing as well.

I have been to The Grape several times and always have a great experience. They have a very diverse wine selection. Being a novice when it comes to wines, I was a little intimidated at first, but the staff took the time to answer my questions and steer me in the right direction. I was impressed with their knowledgeable and their patience. Now when I go, I try to be adventurous by trying something new. I know the staff is going to be able to recommend a great wine based on my tastes. I highly recommend doing a flight to try various wines with the same characteristics. The food and wine are paired to ensure you have a good dining experience. The staff can also recommend additional pairings to your liking. The atmosphere is very relaxing. You can easily forget you are in a mall. But since you are in a mall, they have a retail store attached so you can buy any of they wines they serve. You couldn't ask for anything more easier. They have wine tastings every Saturday and there is live music on Friday and Saturday evenings during the summer.

I've been to the Grape in Atlanta and to this one and also to the new one at SouthPark. This place is fun, has great food and wine of course, and the live music is always great. Highly recommended.
- Pros: Great with a date
- Cons: None
Truly the Ultimate Experience in Wine Education and Fun

The reason for my comments is because I am one of those coupon guys and I am glad that The Grape is putting those promotional gift certificates out there so I can visit more often. Guess what I am cheap and I will admit it. But to think I could come in and pay for my whole table of guests with promotional coupons I paid ? face value for is just plan tacky. That?s not point of promotional coupons, But then again I guess I was raised different. I just hope that a few don?t ruin it for the many and I hope that The Grape continues with those types of programs.
Finally to end on a positive note I am glad to see that The Grape @ Northlake was nominated for so many different categories. It is truly great place to entertain and just simply relax. The concept is unique; the atmosphere is upscale, but not stuffy. The food menu is extensive for a wine bar and I just love it. I have become a regular and I have really gotten to know the staff, including the Owner and to read the last comment is so far from the truth I am surprised it was even allowed to be published. The staff has always been friendly and I can tell you that if you visit The Grape more then once you will see that the Owner is far more involved then most restaurants and just simply put is a ?nice guy?.
Now we know how movie stars feel when the tabloids publish trash, and you have no way to tell the masses it?s simply not true. But to The Grape staff you have your regulars who will stand up and support you. And to the owner thank you for always taking care of me, Keep your chin up!! The average reader can see through this.

Customer Dis-Service to the extreme!

Customer Dis-Service to the extreme!
The Grape advertised promotional certificates. Owner broadcast a live radio message indicating that the certificates may be used for anything The Grape offered, including items from their retail store. Owner also indicated multiple certificates could be used at one time. Upon visiting the 'restaurant', the manager on duty, rudely announced that only one certificate could be used for our bill. We offered to split our checks to utilize the certificates (which were nearing expiration). Manager refused. Owner and Manager proceeded to argue with me, embarrassing my table, and myself. Both Manager and owner indicated that they had changed the rules of the certificates after broadcasting their promotion. I am fairly certain "bait and switch" techniques have been illegal for quite some time.
I was accused of being a "cheap liar" and humiliated in front of my guests.
Food items had to be sent back to be re-made, so our party was not able to eat together.
HORRIBLE experience!
Love it:)

I am new to Charlotte and have been trying to get to know the city better. I came upon a wine bar called, The Grape at Northlake Mall. As soon as I walked in I was impressed by the decor. I was warmly greeted by the staff and decided to sit at the bar, this is where I was introduced to the menu. The waitress explained the menu in full detail and began to ask questions about my taste. From there she was able to pair me up with a great glass of wine. Not only did I have great service but I had come on Five on the Vine, which happens every Thursday. You can get $5 glasses on select 1-5 grape wines. I have always been interested in getting to know wine better and this is the perfect place to come to. So many to choose from that I know I will defiantly be back!

First, I love City Search and all of the great information you receive about all the great places around town. As usual I went to City Search to find out about great wine bars in the area and I came across The Grape @ Northlake Mall. Of course I read all the reviews and decided to go with a group of my friends. Normally I don?t write reviews but I was compelled to do so when I read the last review and I was quite shocked at their comments. Yes, I know everyone is entitled to there opinion, however I would like to ask what?s wrong with bringing a trendy, hot, sheik place to Charlotte? All I can say is Thank You, and please bring more bars and restaurants like you. This place was just simply delightful. The food I ordered was awesome (chicken, portabella quiche) and the waiter was dead on pairing it with the Mer Soleil Silver Unoaked Chardonnay. I know for a fact that I have not seen that wine selection at any of the other wine bars, or even full white table cloth restaurants in Charlotte. I guess my point is I am glad that we have these types of places finally coming to Charlotte and if we expect more upscale, fine dining, trendy places to open in the Queen City then we need to make sure we support them.
- Pros: Extensive Food Menu for a Wine Bar. Great Service, Great Music!!!
