untidy, slow service, overpriced

I am a resident of charlotte, and have been to udipi several times, the last two times ware bad experiences and do not indent to go back again. the place was untidy, staff were unprofessional, it took over 30 minutes for our order (there were only 3 other groups of patrons apart from us) and food mediocore...stay away!!!

Best South Indian food in Charlotte

My husband and I ate at Udipi for the first time tonight, and we will most definitely be returning. We both ordered Thalis; I had the Punjabi Thali and my husband had the Udipi Thali. Only order the Udipi Thali if you like seriously spicy food...the Punjabi Thali was a little less spicy. The dosas and sambar were among the best we've ever had, and the vegetable dishes were all very fresh tasting. I really love South Indian spices, and the food here is perfectly spiced with clove, cardamom and cinnamon. The chef/cooks here truly understand how to balance flavors beautifully, and it's obvious great care is taken in the kitchen with quality ingredients. The masala chai tea was unsweetened, which I liked, as I find it's often too sweet when I order it at other Indian restaurants. I can't wait to return!

Good variety of south Indian food

We have been to this restaurant recently and found a nice variety of south Indian dishes.Customer service is good.After many days we got a chance of having a nice lunch in a restaurant in charlotte.

service in udipi

we stay near udipi and go there often.initially the service was good but now it is turning from bad to worse.it takes 20 min to take the order and the staff is really very rude.on our last visit they took so much time to get the order and when we tried to ask for something there was not a single person in the restaurant!!!the tables are not cleaned regularly.the food is good thats why i feel sorry for the restaurant which is losing customers like us because of bad service!

udipi is the best

its very well said that there is food for soul in udipi

i came to USA and i tried the food of so many indian restaurant not in charlotte but in another states also but the food of udipi is the best the taste which i found was awesome and can be differentiated in thousands moreover they have all types of dishes like north indian, gujrati, indo-chinese and fusion of some dishes (like dosa pizza, idly manchurian),and south indian ( i recommend onion rawa masala dosa don't get impatient if it takes time because it takes time to cook but once it come on table u can make the difference they have morethan 30 dosas and uthpam if u r going with kids they can make ur kid happy with micky mouse uthapam) i can say all type of food under one roof.

Great Restaurant

If you are a vegetarian, then Udipi is the PLACE TO GO, This is the best indian restaurant in charlotte. The service is great and the quality of food is excellent. They have very good Indo - Chinese dishes. They have a wide variety of Dosas, especially the Chilli Paneer dosa is amazing. You can even try the Idli manchurian which is also quite different, I will give Udipi 10 out of 10.

Charlotte's Best....

I recently moved to Charlotte for job reasons, one day while drving buy we spotted "Udupi the Vegetarian Cuisine". We went in, I ordered traditional Mysore Masala Dosa and my wife ordered Malai Kofta with Naan. The service was great, the tables were clean and staff was very curteous. Manager also offered us papads with sweet and mint chutney. Oh! Wooooooo! that was my reaction. Then came our food, I took the first bite...Wooh....again the dosa and sambhar were the best I ever had in last in US. My wife was releshing every bite of the Malai koft and naan. She rated the meal best (all hands down)...then came the cheque...we were surprised it was so reasonable.

Since then I visit Udupi atleast twice a week. Udupi lalso offers great lunch buffet. To sumarize my experience in one line "Udipi the jawab Nahin"
