Great price for hair or spa service! It's like going to Outback on a McDonald's budget! by Sarah W. at InsiderPages

I normally go to Carmen & Carmen and pay $40 for a simple layered cut plus tip. A friend recommended the Aveda Institute to me, and her hair looked great, so I thought I'd try it out. I made an appointment for a month later since they were so booked. I found out that they sometimes take walk-ins if they have capacity. When I arrived, I was surprised at what a beautiful, upscale facility it is. I figured it would be kinda dumpy or school looking for the prices there. All these people were lined up and each stylist came to get the clients.

When mine came to get me, she asked me what I wanted done. She brought the instructor over and the instructor advised her on how to do my cut in order to get the results I wanted. I also decided to do partial highlights. They did a great job on my cut and highlights, and my bill was only $27! I think the cut was $12, and the highlights were $15. The only negative was that it took much longer than my regular appointments because the student is not as fast and neither do you want them to be, so they don't mess up!

I went back later to get my eyebrows waxed for $8, and that went well, too. After your appointment is over, the instructor comes over to ask you questions so that they can grade the student. I highly recommend going!

PROS: Inexpensive for high quality cut, great service, upscale environment

CONS: Instructor may have to advise a lot, can be time consuming

low prices and high quality = great deal!!!

i've been going to the Aveda Institute for services for about a year now. i absoulutely love spa services, but in this economy i've had to cut back. i've found the perfect solution - Aveda Institute! I can get facials for only $20!!!! I also get my hair done there. I always get compliments on my highlights, the only negative side is that it takes a bit longer for the students to do the hair services, because they are, well, students!!

definitely worth much more than they charge for the services. i'll be a devoted customer for years to come!

  • Pros: inexpensive, AVEDA salon/spa
  • Cons: students take longer to perform services

Great haircut, highlights for a great price!

I can't believe I never tried this place until recently. I'd been paying over twice as much for my cut and highlights. They do an excellent job here for an affordable price, which is hard to find in Charlotte. Will definitely be back to try out their other services as well.

Best Spa Experience at a Very Low Price

by queencharlotte at Citysearch

Per a friends recommendation, I got a facial at Aveda Institute recently. Wow!!! I had no idea that so much was involved...i.e. foot massage, head massage, hot towels, aromas...and all for just $40. I have had facials done at many high end salons/spas and now I've come to the realization that I was paying too much for too little.

Thanks Ms. Phyllis at Aveda. You Rock!
