Save yourself and just go to Matthews

The staff working this morning at 10:15 clearly weren't morning people, or they really are just insecure control freaks all the time. It's obvious they pass judgment on whoever is selling to their store and are just power hungry and their only means of pushing their weight around is by controlling who actually earns money by coming in. We were told a wait time of 45 minutes which soon doubled after they never searched our bags. When they finally got around to them it seemed as though their jobs were becoming too much of a task and they took maybe 2 things from a full 13 gallon trash bag. Mind you half of these items were not used and or still had the tags on them. Yes some of them were t-shirts but the majority was hoodies ( which from my understanding was something they were looking for) shoes that were worn all of one time. As my friend was shown what could be taken the blonde unapproachable thinks shes "gods gift to earth" decided that her never before worn timberlands would not suffice in their store. However the other employee that went through her bag seemed to think they would work fine. Apparently the employees work under different rules.

This place is not even deserving of one star. the staff is very rude insecure and are pure narcissists.

Plato's Closet is More like an OUT HOUSE!

I've been to Plato's a few times and each time the service was horrible! Don't want to bring up race, but they seem to cater. I've tried to sell OnCe and that is the last time. I had tons of stuff. Probably three big boxes and they were returned in a matter of minutes without one accepted. I had all the latest brand names too. I was told they were dated or something along that line. Maybe some were, but if they had gone through them all they would've found very expensive up to date items that made their crappy stuff look bad. They are selective in who they greet when they come in too, which is sad!!! They need more mature employees and w e e d out some of that c r a p that is jamming up the racks! Please! I'm tempted to contact local radio stations and have them boycoted. A true waist of time and money! My best advice - BUY NEW!

Poor service and selection

I have attempted to sell to them on two occasions and they have only accepted one or two items from a container of approx 20. This last time I took in items from GAP, Old Navy, American Eagle and Hollister. Knowing how picky they were the first time, I only took in items appropriate for the season and which were brand names. Some of these items were just purchased in Aug 07 for this school year however my daughter has grown taller and the jeans were too short. She may have worn them 3-4 times. This time they took 2 hoodies out of the bag and told me they were being selective and the items were worn. Hello.. it is a used clothing store! A few of the shirts still had tags on them.

While I was waiting the teenage boy with a mulltitude of tatoos and gauges in his ears who was going through another womans box proceeded to talk very loudly about the clothes and the how they were crap.This woman also had hoodies etc., from abercrombie and hollister which appeared to be in excellent condition. They accepted from her 3 items as well.

Maybe they should train their staff on service and how to distinguish what will sell. I went there to purchase clothes for my teenagers to wear, not to dress them for a night at the club.

Good prices, but picky about what they buy

I would have to disagree with fashiondealer because, I've only been there twice, but they have alot better prices than the places I like to shop at! I shop at Hollister, American Eagle, and Abercrombie and Fitch, and places like that are expensive, expecially when you are buying jeans. For example, the cheapest pair of jeans you can get at Hollister are $40, and Abercrombie and Fitch is worse! But if you go to Platos Closet you can get a pair of jeans for less than $20... you save over half! And shirts at Hollister and Abercrombie and Fitch are normally no less than $20, but at Platos they're never more than $8! And I know that they are used, but they are picky about what they take, it cant have even the smallest stain and they can even tell if its been through the washer too many times. So you know that you aren't buying extremly used stuff, just slightly used. On the other hand they are very picky about what they will buy from you. I tried to sell them four large bags full of stuff and they only took four items, and I only made $13. But I don't think that they are biased, just VERY picky. A little too picky.

More expensive than Ross, but used!

This store had some ok things, but for the most part the clothes were more for clubbing than anything else. Also, the staff is very biased, and decides if they will buy your clothes based on if they like you or not, before even looking at the clothes. Also, the prices are as high or higher than places like Ross and much higher than Forever 21, Old Navy, Target ect. for used clothes. I'd recommend shopping at actual stores with new clothes because you'll actually save money.

• Cons: overpriced and not a good selection
