Best Academic 5 Star school in area!

by mspute at Citysearch

Peters Academy is an exceptional school.

Mrs. Peters provides the children with special guests such as having Rufus from the Bobcats or Homer from the Knights come out,Owls from the raptor center, Zelnik the magician and Santa. Each day the children do a hands on activity which my son looked forward to. Mrs. Peters also meets with each child 1-3 times each week to work on lessons. My son loved that special time he was in the black bear group. (The children are assigned bear groups).

My 4 year son learned to read, does math very well and took an interest in all the themes but especially liked the dinosaur unit. Mrs. Peters program is very well thought out and provides the children with educational and fun experiences.

Mrs. Peters takes the children on several Field Trips which, I could tag along on with my younger son. Our favorite was Ray's Splash Planet.

Mrs. Peters is a very caring Teacher and she really enjoys working with the chidlren. I have not seen another school in this area that provides so much at such a very affordable price. My son is doing well in 1st grade because of the quality education he received at Peters Academy!

  • Pros: small school, 5 star rated, Teacher is excellent
  • Cons: Wish they had summer program

Excellent school!

by DebbieBrown at Citysearch

Mrs. Peters is an excellent teacher and puts 100% into running her school.

My three children attended Peters Academy and they enjoyed every minute.

The themes change each month, she gives each child individual attention and the field trips are educational and fun. I recommend to everyone I know.

  • Pros: Small, 5 star, affordable and friendly
  • Cons: no summer camp

Kids come first at Peters Academy!

by DonnaPeters at Citysearch

WOW! I am surprised that someone would say I am being a snob. My school gets nothing but great reviews from parents because my first priority are the children. PERIOD!

I guess some people think they are more important then the children at my school.

I keep my fees very affordable so that any child that wants to attend can even though, I could easily charge 2-3 times more and unlike other schools like Calvary for instance, I do not ask for extra money every week.

Peters Academy has been a 5 star school since the rating system took effect 8 years ago---Calvary choses not to even apply for the rated licenses.....I have been told because they could never recieve the 5 star rating but ask them yourself.

II get 5-10 calls per day of people calling to try to sell me stuff and it is annoying--takes away for the children. Should I answer the phone and entertain these people for 15 or 20 minutes?

If someone that wants information can not use proper phone etiquette then why should I play 20 questions with them? I know that may sound snobby but really, people will call that I do not know and instead of saying " I am such and such and would like information about your school" they chose to say "How ya doing?" Is that rude? EXTREMELY!

I am glad you like Calvary, many people do.

wow, I think they feel they are too good for everyone

by carolinagirl88 at Citysearch

Wow, i'm a bit taken aback by the smugness of the person above who posted that is affiliated w/ Peters Academy.

I can't believe they get ticked off if people ask for information. Do they not know how hard it is to get into the quality preschools and all the waiting lists around. I will def. pass them by when it's time to find a good school for my son. Do yourself a favor and go find another 5 star like Calvary (who won best preschool in 2008 by Charlotte Parents). I've heard from neighbors how they treat parents with respect. Sounds like this place doesn't.

Enrolling at Peters Academy is easy!

by PetersAcademy at Citysearch

Peters Academy is the only 5 Star 1/2 day school in the area and the children are very busy during school hours. Instead of taking time away from the children it is best to stop by and pick up an information packet during the day. The packets will include all the details you need about Peters Academy.

After you have the packet then, Mrs. Peters would be happy to show you around by appointment only.

We of course, realize that high quality schools such as Peters Academy are hard to get into but coming by after hours, knocking on the private home door , leaving long distance phone numbers to return or wanting us to sent out information will not get you in any sooner.

Peters Academy has been so fortunate to have wonderful parents the last few years that truly understand that school hours are 9am-1pm and school is run just like any other business intown. We do want you to see our school in action, which is the only way to see if it is a good fit for your child, we just ask that you make an appointment so we can arrange time for you.

Thank you for understanding.

New Class at Peters Academy!

by momof2angels at Citysearch

I am so excited that my 3 year old will be able to attend Peters Academy in the fall.

I have found that most preschools in the area play all the time, I need a school where my son can also start learning some basic skills for Pre-Kindergarten. He misses the new cut off date so having him hang around the house for two years would be too much. Mrs. Peters is an excellent Teacher so I am sure her new class will be a wonderful addition to what she already offers. Also, I like the fact it is in the afternoon so I can take my older son to his swim lessons and give him more personal attention.

  • Pros: A class for the younger ones to prepare them for Pre-Kindergarten, small class of 8 students
  • Cons: Summer Program??

Peters Academy is one of the best small schools in Charlotte!

by lgrimes at Citysearch

My daugher attended another local school before we were fortunate to find Peters Academy.

The other school, is known for being the largest school in the area but, they were constantly asking for money and that seemed to be their only concern.

I did not realize until my daughter started at Peters Academy that she was lacking in so many basic skills such as holding her pencil correctly or cutting. Her other school didn't seem concerned and it was a shock to us since we were paying so much for her to attend the other school.

Mrs. Peters has high expectations and the children are not allowed to say they can't do anything. My daughter quickly adjusted to the daily schedule and enjoyed attending everyday. I really do not believe my daughter would currently be excelling in math, reading and science if she hadn't attended Peters Academy.

Mrs. Peters has a set way that she wants her students to behave and the children always seem to be happy and having fun. I can vouch for the fact that the school is very busy it is only a 4 hour day.

I am so glad my daughter attended Peters Academy and I highly recommend the school to everyone I meet.

It is not an accident the school is always full with a very long waiting list!

  • Pros: Small class, higher expectations,, teacher experience, close to home/work, very affordable, educational field trips, special events, classroom theme changes monthly, my child truly enjoyed attending
  • Cons: none

Apology for "misunderstanding" Peters Academy strives for good customer service!

by mrs_peters at Citysearch

Peters Academy is a very busy school and our staff does not have the time to field phone calls from people that are unprofessional. When we answer the phone "Hello, this is Peters Academy" we expect people to say who they are and what we can help them with.

On an average day, we get about 2 dozen calls well over half of them people trying to sell us stuff. I know for a fact, my biggest pet peeve is people that reply to me after I have answered the call in a professional manner with "how ya doing?" The caller doesn't know me and I am not about to make small talk with a stranger. Would anyone?

We are very busy teaching children and the children are our first priority.

Perhaps rcotton, called at a busy time, perhaps he/she did not say who they were and what they needed help with, can't really determine. Perhaps we were rude and we do very much apologize for that.

I wish there were an easier way to deal with those darn sales people as it is very annoying and frustrating to take time away from the children to have to deal with unwanted calls. (We all know that feeling!)

Peters Academy has been a 5 Star school for the last 8 years and we are very proud of the fact that we are very well-known in the community for our high-quality Pre-Kindergarten & Kindergarten.

If rcotton wants to call back to talk with me, I would be happy to tell him/her about Peters Academy.

Again, I am very sorry rcotton had a bad experience..........thanks for bringing that to my attention.

Rude lady

by rcotton at Citysearch

I called responding to their ad in the Charlotte Parent. Big mistake. I asked if they had a website and she said that "they don't take solicitations." Well, the problem with that is I was considering enrolling my child in their program and I am not soliciting them. When I tried to call back because I thought that she misunderstood me, she picked up and quickly hung up. They lost a potential client by being rude. Maybe they have too much business. I don't know. I won't recommend them. There are many other good finds out there.

Great school

by karlynsmom at Citysearch

My daughter loved attending Peters Academy. She liked the daily craft projects and the teddy bear picnic days. Mrs. Peters fully prepared my daughter for Kindergarten.

  • Pros: affordable, close to home and Mrs. Peters makes the school a fun learning environment.. Classroom transformed monthly to match the theme. Parents are always welcomed to participate.
  • Cons: Wish Mrs. Peters had a summer program.
