BEST IN GASTON COUNTY!

Alfred and Charlie's is the best all around restaurant in Gaston County. It is set in an old house and retains the at home feeling. The menu is well varied. I go there at least once a week, and I cannot recall the last time I actually had BBQ (although the BBQ is excellent as well). Try the fried turkey, BBQ chicken, homemade soups, or breakfast. You won't be disappointed in this one! Southern hospitality greets you at the door and follows thru with great food.

Alfred and Charlie's is an old house converted into a restaurant. They serve all kinds of BBQ dishes that are very good and have an awesome breakfast menu. However, the service is not so great, so be prepared to wait. I know they do catering as well so maybe that is where their focus lies. Also, be prepared to be bombarded by Republican paraphanalia that covers the walls as you enter...

The Scene
This cozy, family-style eatery makes its home in a renovated old house, so the atmosphere is intimate. Even in the main dining room on a crowded night, you'll never feel like you have to talk over the rest of the patrons.
The Food

At Alfred and Charlie's, barbecue connoisseurs of all varieties can come together peacefully and enjoy the flavor of great, roasted-on-site pork, because the sauces (more types than you ever knew existed) are strategically placed on the table, allowing you to dress your meal to your own tastes. Topped off with the most savory hushpuppies this side of the Mason-Dixon Line.

Alfred and Charlies BQ House is the best place to go for barbeque in Gaston County. YOu have to ask for what you want sometimes but waitstaff is not always on their toes. The best variety of sauces i have ever seen in my entire life! After reading the harsh reviews from other citysearch members i decided to check it out myself. Darlene and Alfred, the two owners of this awesome restaurant, are very nice with southern hospitality. I highly recomend this place. Good pit cooked barbeque, steaks, ribs, chicken of any kind, and banana pudding, you cant forget the banana pudding. It is usually crowded on saturday mornings, but it really is the best.
