DO NOT GO HERE!!!! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!! RUINED MY DRESS!!. Damaged the wedding gown that I bought from them in Apr or May 2011. I didn't see anything I really loved, as I was leaving, owner Hattie brought me another dress. The dress was beautiful. BUT was a size 16 and I am a 0. She promised she could alter it to fit. I told her I wasn't sure because the dress was so big. Hattie assured me 3x this could be altered to my size and it would fit perfectly. Said if I purchased the gown in full it would include alterations, veil, and headpiece. I purchased the gown think I got a deal, RIGHT! NOT SO MUCH!!! I went back 4x from purchase date for alterations and the dress was not correct. In mid June, to the shop for a fitting and the bust was so big had me purchase extra push up cups for $20, knowing it would never fix the problem. In July, my family was here from Fl wanted to see my dress. The dress still didn’t fit wouldn’t close properly. Hattie said she needed to switch out the hooks and alter the front (as the size 16 breast is different than a size 0 cup) and charged me another $40. Back in August and early Sept (as the wedding was sched for sept 17) and it did NOT fit. I placed the wedding on hold for a severe illness. Jan 2012, I came to have my dress fitted again as the wedding was now March 3. Again, the same issues . The back didn’t close, the front cups that I paid to have altered twice were not fixed. Told me to come back the next week. I came back, Nothing had been done except the back strap was even smaller, the only piece that held up the dress and it didn't close. Scheduled to come back Feb 4th. Feb 4th, an employee spent over an hour in the room trying to get dress to fit. She said honey, “this dress just doesn't fit, at least 2 inches has to be let out the back for it to close”. The front was not altered AGAIN!!! At this point, I Am really irritated and wanted to take the dress elsewhere and the owner would not give me the dress. Hattie said" COME back on FEB 18th and I will see for myself if it actually fits". Feb 18th, the dress did NOT fit. It was still 2 inches too short in the back. Said she would have to change out the hooks AGAIN!!! AND would alter the front. Sold me body tape and said I would need to use it to hold up my dress because it was too big, $12 charge. "Come back on FEB 24th (one week before my wedding) and I promise YOUR DRESS WILL FIT" On (FRI) Feb 24th, my dress DID NOT FIT. Nothing had been changed except new metal hooks. One week before my wedding, in tears and my dress doesn't fit so I took my dress off and walked. I took it to 3 alterations places to see if it could be fixed. Bridal mart said "No, and she should have never tried to alter a size 16 to a size 0, it is impossible, anything over 2 sizes of your size should never be altered. She should have never SOLD you this dress." They tried to help me find another dress and they didn’t have anything my size for such a close time frame. I took it to David's Bridal that said "This dress is not fixable and should have never been altered to try and fit you, You are way too tiny." I looked there from 3pm until 9pm trying on dresses. 9pm , bought a new dress. Called around charlotte too see if anyone could do my alterations, found "Alterations by Christy". Feb 25th, had a fitting for “new” dress and brought the original dress. Christy told me "There is no way this dress could be fixed and it will never fit you properly. Anything above a size 4 should have never even been sold to you as a dress 2 sizes above your size is the max to be altered without ruining it. A size 16 cup will never fit you and will always be big. This dress should have never been sold to you. I will help in whatever way I can. You really need to get all of your money back." New dress was done Tues morning. Hattie had the nerve to tell me I was just a "Picky Bride" and refused to take responsibility that they could not get the dress to fit properly and even admitted it was just TOO big to alter.
Great Place!!!!. I bought my wedding dress and all my bridesmaids dresses here. The owner is very nice and seems to be familiar with dealing with anxious brides. Alterations were done perfectly and they provided outstanding service in doing so. I recommend all bride to be's to at least check it out.
The owner is very rude and only thinks of the dollar signs will try and sell you the first thing you pick up and tell you how wonderful it looks on you even if it doesn't just for the money. I will never go back there and I would not recomend that anyone shop there.
Good Experience. After reading some of the older reviews I was very skeptical to get a dress from Bridal Place and Alterations. When I finally decided to just go in and see if they had any nice dresses. I was very pleased to see that they carry Alfred Angelo wedding dresses and Bridesmaids dresses. The dress I ended up ordering had a color on it so it matched perfectly to the color of my bridesmaids dresses. They took there time with all of the girls and really helped me to understand when the dresses would be back in. After the girls dresses came back in they all needed a couple alterations which turned out perfectly. When my dress came in, I had lost over 30 pounds so my dress needed a lot done to it. they did an amazing job on the alterations, and I have no complaints. I bought my dress, tiarra, veil, shoes, handbag, garter, jewelry, and even rented my mens tuxedos through there store. They are a one stop shop and were very helpful and friendly. I learned they are alot nicer to you and more helpful when you are nicer to them. LIKE ANY NORMAL HUMAN!!!!
Found the dress of my dreams, but we all have our bad moments, right?.
My friend got married a little over a year ago and bought her dress from Bridal Place. The dress was gorgeous and pretty unique. So I was really excited to go see what they had to offer. I tried David's Bridal, who in turn, were VERY VERY rude to me. I came to BP&A, and was really happy with the service. I picked out my wedding dress that day, only a WEEK after I got engaged! It is truly the dress of my dreams. So the time came to get it fitted, that went well. I bought a veil, and the prices weren't too overpriced. I got the alterations done, and everything looks great.
I went back to get a boustea and pick up my dress for bridal portraits. They almost forgot to give me my VEIL which was not cheap, and the lady gave me the wrong size in the boustea. So we do the portraits, and the boustea was just too big. So I go back to exchange and get another one that fits, and they were so rude to me. Told me, they didn't know if they could exchange it and made me wait 15 minutes while they 'looked' for one in the back. I just wanted the right size so I can look perfect on my big day. I paid them a lot of money and gave them my services, I just didn't expect the rudeness they gave off that day.
Besides that, I did find the dress of my dreams!! I would suggest you going here and giving them a try. Their dresses are unique and they cater to plus size women very well. All in all, I've enjoyed my experience with them. I guess we just all have our bad days.
Worst Alterations!. I bought a bridesmaid dress from here, and when I had alterations done. The woman was rude, commented on the way I was shaped for the alterations, and once I told her I was unable to breath the way she had me pinned together she actaully snapped at me and told me I was wrong! When I finally went to get the dress the weekend before the wedding I had pieces of fabric that were just hanging out of the dress! On top of that they wouldn't even fix the problem they created! Horrible. I would not reccomend for alterations ever. The service is poor.
Brides Beware!!. My wedding dress needed the top taken in, a bustle, and needed to be hemmed. At checkout, the lady said that I needed to put "something" down, so I put $50 down and was told my dress would be ready in 2 weeks. I go to pick it up. I tried it on first only to discover that there was no bustle and it had not been hemmed. I told the owner the problem so she got my reciept out and said that they require half down to do "all" of the work, like I knew better. She also said the woman that checked me out didn't work there often and she didn't even apologize. So I had to wait another 2 weeks for what should have already been done. They also charged me an additional steam press fee after all of this because now my dress was seriously wrinkled from the alteration process. This was my first and last experience with them. I would not recommend them to anyone! Brides Beware!
BEWARE of Bridal Place & Alterations!!!. I bought my wedding dress here and had them do the alterations. I went back 4 times to get the alterations re-done. The 2nd time back they couldn't find my dress-- I found it hanging to be RE-SOLD! I finally gave up on the 4th alteration and it still wasn't right. I was told that I would not have to pay for the alterations, but when I finally picked it up the manager said I would have to pay anyway. They were not remorseful at all for ruining my dress. Do not get anything from Bridal Place & Alterations!! BEWARE!!
