My 2 1/2 year old boy has had his haircut at this shop all of his life. At first he was terrified, screaming and making a scene. The girls, especially Teresa and Michelle, always played with him and comforted him. He now loves going to get his haircut by Teresa, who is truly a talented hairstylist. She is fun and patient. I would recommend this place to anyone. It is clean and the staff is friendly and professional.
Worst Haircut I have ever seen on a child!. So disappointed . . . Thank goodness hair grows. We have been to this location twice. We chose Pigtails and Crewcuts at Blakney because we heard about it from friends. The first time the cut was fine, but this second time . . . Wow. I think the stylist was new, but honestly I have never seen anything this terrible in my life. My son's hair is uneven all over. One side is longer than the other and it looks like chunks have been cut out of his hair. The back of his hair is cut up way above the nape of his neck. We will not be going back to this location because Management should know the staff's ability and there is no wAy this person is capable of cutting hair!
My kids (and I) LOVE this place!!.
We first went to Pigtails and Crewcuts on a whim because we had just eaten next door at Salsaritas. From the moment I walked in with my kids, everyone was so friendly. My kids LOVED getting their haircuts (while my older ones played Wii in the waiting room). My youngest is not a fan of haircuts but his stylist was very patient and calming. She helped my son relax (and helped me, I was nervous too!!)
We've been there a few times since and last time, my husband got his haircut - he said afterwards that it was one of the best haircuts he's ever gotten, and he has difficult hair.
As for retail items, they have a good selection of bows and girlie things here, but there are also good toys and gifts for boys. If you sign up for their newsletter, you can usually get coupons for discounts on retail and haircuts.
Overall, Pigtails and Crewcuts is a great experience. My kids (I have 5 of them) have all had different stylists here and I have loved all of their haircuts. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.
Friendly and talented stylists, and a good party experience. I had already booked a "Princess" party for my little girl when I saw Suzanne's review below, so I was a bit nervous. I have to say I came away very impressed and had a different experience. Maybe it was a different group of party hostesses/assistants, but they definitely made it fun for my daughter and her friends (ages 5-6 plus a 7 yr old sister). The girls enjoyed their updos and the whole princess treatment. I have two girls and a boy and I have taken them here for haircuts since the end of 2009 (I think the salon had just opened) and I have been pleased every time. Friendly receptionists, great stylists and a fun atmosphere without being over-the-top. I would (and have) recommend to friends for cuts and parties.
Great Cuts - Not So Great Parties. Just had a "Diva Darlings" birthday party for my daughter and her six friends. I can't say it was worth the $300.00 (including hostess tip) and I definitely wouldn't recommend it to someone else. For the price, the girls got to dress up in gowns and sparkley shoes for the party and then have their hair, nails and make-up done. There were three "hostesses" that were in their teens that took care of the girls while they played some CD's. The whole "diva" transformation took about twenty minutes and after that, there wasn't really anything for them to do. The "hostesses" asked if they wanted to dance, but eight year olds tend to be shy so that didn't go over. Then they pulled out the Wii Karoke for the girls which was received a little better. I was slightly annoyed at one of the teenage hostesses because she kept putting on tracks that she preferred instead of what the girls asked for but we took care of that situation relatively quickly. After one song, the girls sang happy birthday and ate their cupcakes and then sat there looking bored. After clean-up they got to "walk the runway" and get pictures taken. They walk the length of the room....twice and get a photo taken for their sno-globe take home gift. Once that was accomplished, they hit the Karoke once again until it was time to undress. All in all, it wasn't very entertaining and really not worth the price although the staff was extremely nice.
Double The Fun!. My twin boys have always been afraid of haircuts. The staff at Pigtails and Crewcuts are so patient and kind with them. After several visits, they now look forward to haircuts and even ask for them! It is the ONLY salon I will ever take my children - they are the best!
This place is awesome!. This is the best place around to get your kids' haircuts. My boys have special needs and have a lot of sensory issues, but the stylists here are able to put them at ease. It is the only place that I can get their haircut without them becoming scared. They also offer a multiples discount, which is great since my boys are twins. Highly recommended!
My kids love this place!. My kids have been getting their hair cuts at Pigtails & Crewcuts in Blakeney for almost a year now. Each and every time, we've all had an excellent experience and the kids actually enjoy getting their hair cut. The staff is amazing and attentive.
