Good Food, Bad Service. My family and I decided to have our Friday night dinner at Liberty Restaurant last night because we got good reviews from clients and co-workers about how good the food was. They were right! Everything was fresh and delicious. I really wanted to go because I learned they used local farms and happy cow. We are big on organic and free range meats. I had the burger and fresh cut fries and my boyfriend had the beer-battered fish and chips. They did not have a kids menu so his son had a burger also. We ate every bite. My only complaint was the service. We were treated like we didn't belong. Staff barely greeted us and no one gave us eye contact, it was very uncomfortable. We had to say bye to the greeters on the way out before they did. Yes, we are African American and we go to resturants all over, upscale and regular restaurants and never been treated this cold before. It's a shame because the food was really good but I don't think we will patronize this restaurant again.
Good Food, Nice Atmosphere in Southend.
Today's visit to The Liberty restaurant was on par with the other visits I have had, all being pretty darn good.
I had ordered the calamari appetizer which was one of the better calamari apps I have had. It is covered in an asian inspired glaze and very lightly fried and breaded. Comes on top of a bed of slaw. The calamari is actually long fritters rather than rings which were very tender and light.
For my main course I had the Chicken sandwich and macaroni & cheese. The chicken sandwich is a fairly large sized breast of chicken on a potato roll. The sandwich comes with tomato, lettuce, roasted red peppers, carmelized onions, guacamole and a aioli that adds a lot of flavor. I get this more often then not when visiting for lunch and always tastes great. The side of macaroni and cheese is also good. It is baked in a mini cast iron pan and served to you the same way.
Overall, this restaurant is a good lunch spot in dilworth and can get pretty busy during the day. There was only one server in the bar/lounge area and when we left it was half full and it seemed like it could have had some more help to make it move smoothly.
