Editorial Review for Ballantyne Golf Resort – by Liz Delaney

In Short
Ballantyne's designers made strategic use of a tight space, producing a course of undulating greens and tricky bunkers. Players can choose from five sets of tees that play from 4,815 to 6,735 yards over gently rolling terrain. It's a fun challenge, frustrating to only the most novice of players. The 30,000-square-foot clubhouse includes a lounge and dining area, a pro shop, locker rooms and meeting facilities. Tee time reservations are accepted seven days in advance.

Insider Tips

Know Before You Go

The Golf Club at Ballantyne Resort should not be confused with the Ballantyne Country Club. The latter (usually just called "Ballantyne") is a members-only club, but the former is one of the top public courses in town.

The Extras

The Dana Rader Golf School has full-time instructors, outdoor all-weather hitting bays, an indoor video/hitting room, a video library and three deluxe putting and chipping greens with practice bunkers.

Tell me another city where you can find a public course that is as good as a private one at half the cost. Beautiful fairways, new carts, very pleasant employees guiding you through the course and by far, the bast bar at the "19th Hole", Gallery Bar. 50" Pioneer plsma TV, great selection of local brews, and even a better dining menu makes it a great place to realx with your buddies after a round or two. Last but not least, you can book on line at anytime!! What a feature!

Pros: location and price and can book online at anytime!

Cons: getting too popular! I am sure they are happy!

Great course setup. Several holes, particularly number two, demand course management. Par 5's are great birdie opportunities, especially 17. Course can be very pricy in prime season. There is no stopping at the clubhouse between 9 and 10, though. Very strange!

Pros: Layout, Condition

Cons: Pricy
