Sunday Brunch. I had been to Lava Bistro with co-workers a couple of times and my wife had just gone recently with a friend. She really enjoyed it and mentioned that there was a Sunday brunch and would like to go for Mother's Day. So my two sons and I took her there yesterday. There was an omelet station, a breakfast buffet (self serve), a lunch station and a desert area. We went through the breakfast buffet and overall the food was okay not great, some items were cold and the french toast had sat there too long. When the check arrived I was very surprised to see a bill for $158.00 for 4 people ($28 per adult). Part of the bill included a $24.50 service fee and we even went through the self serve buffet. I was very close to wanting to speak to the manager but let it go. Just wanted to warn you about the extra charge for the Sunday brunch, very overpriced for what you get. Needless to say there will be no more brunches for us there. Pewter Rose does a better job in that respect. By the way, it took a long time to get something to drink as well.

A waterside retreat offering upscale fare, a well-trained staff and to-die-for focaccia.. The Scene
The setting is stunning--open and accented with modern flair. If you can, grab a table on the outdoor wraparound patio, facing the lake. Ceiling fans will keep you cool in the summer.

The Food

The bistro's menu features upscale offerings and customer's favorite to-die-for focaccia. Appetizers include excellent gumbo and blue crab cakes, as well as a notable seared ahi tuna over Asian slaw. Gourmet pizzas, pastas and salads round out the menu, along with fine specialties such as grilled filet mignon with crayfish Creole sauce.

Exceptional. The incredible atmosphere is bettered the food and impecible service at the University location. The view from the patio is awesome - relaxing and beautiful. The wine list stands with the best around. And the value of the meal is untouchable. I highly recomend this place. My wife and I feel very comfortable taking the kids there.

Waterfront Dining in the city. Who can beat the stone oven pizzas or the garlic mashed potatos? For fine casual dining, this is the best place. Their wine & beer selection is outstanding when paired with a hot summer evening on their patio. Not much more you could ask for!
