Great Family Italian. Been there several times and never disappointed. Love the owner that plays the accordion. Food is always good and plentiful. Atmosphere is more family than romantic but at this stage in my life that is what I am looking for. Oh yea, do not forget to take a walk around the lake after dinner.…
Two bad experiences. I wish I could say I say I had a five star experience - I love Italian food - but unfortunately I can not. I first ate at this restaurant almost five years ago where my mother found a giant fly wiggling in her salad leaves. After a few years and finally erasing that image from my mind, I went back a few weeks ago only to have another bad experience. We waited for a long time to have anyone seat us, they were out of soup, and the waiter brought me the wrong dish. He apologized and comped the meal, but he could not fix the fact that I had to watch my husband eat, and then he had to watch me eat, since the timing was all messed up. Why two stars vs. one? The food was good, although nothing special. But I don't think I'll be trying this place again.…
My Favorite Restaurant EVER!!!. I have been coming to Ciro's since I was in the 5th grade and the first time I walked in I was mesmorized by the unique decorations of moons and suns. You sit down and they give you fresh hot bread (if you're lucky you come on a day when thje owner makes the bread!) The service is very friendly and you always feel as if you are number one. The meals are delicious, i almost always get the cheese ravioli in an alfredo sauce. My mom loves the portabello mushroom sandwhich (only available for lunch) and my dad loves the chicken marsala. They don't rush you out the door and the seating is not crowded so you can enjoy the company of those you came with. dessert is delicious if you have room for it. i never do :) but once for my birthday i got canolis and they were delicious. If you are looking for the most bang for your buck, along with authentic food, then you CANNOT miss out on Ciro's!!!!…
Sadly Disappointed. Being Italian and from New York (Long Island) I have difficulty recommending this restaurant. Upon entering you notice an almost uncomfortable decor with tiled floors, unattractive walls and furniture. The prices on the menu certainly would demand a quality meal, but I was not impressed with their plain basic gravies, bland bread and pre-prepared appetizers. In my opinion the owners of this restaurant are focused on providing large quantities of easily forgettable food at high prices and high profit. It is puzzling to me how others can claim this restaurant is so good and most of all authentically Italian, maybe they have not been exposed to good Italian restaurants (olive garden and macaroni grill are not good Italian restaurants). This restaurant clearly serves basic Italian-American comfort food, in gigantic American portions, if this is what you are looking for you will find it here, if not save your money and dine elsewhere.…
Authentic Italian cuisine, excellent service, good value!!!. After traveling around Charlotte a good 2 - 3 hours we found Ciro's by mistake when we had decided to go back to the hotel were the convention was being held. Upon entry the place was packed and I thought that we would be there for at least an hour before being seated. To our surprise the Owner (originally from Italy) came over and introduced himself and ask if we had been waiting long (This was after about 5 minutes). During our chat, the attendant called our name and seated us (approx. 10 minutes). The atmosphere was excellent, the owner even played several Italian selections on his accordion. Very romantic. My wife and I had an excellent dinner and the service was great. I would highly recommend this restaurant to any visitor at University Place in Charlotte. And for any racing fan there is a unique story between the owner and famed racing personality/former driver Benny Parsons. So drop by and read the article on the right hand wall as soon as you enter.…
