A lakeside setting offering lots of amenities.. The Scene
This comfortable, convenient and modular-looking hotel is within 15 minutes of the Charlotte Douglas International Airport, the Uptown District and Lowe's Motor Speedway. The latter plays host to numerous premier NASCAR events including the Winston. The enormous lobby features escalators that lead to a warren of meeting rooms, which are often in use for conferences and corporate retreats. From the large rear windows you can see a lovely manmade lake surrounded by a shopping area full of boutiques and bistros.

The Details
Renovations in 1997 included a $13 million expansion that added an additional tower of guest rooms. All accommodations include basics such as coffee makers and hair dryers, while suites have entertainment areas, conference tables and wet bars. Executive Rooms are ideal for corporate travelers with amenities such as high-speed Internet access, as well as complimentary continental breakfast and evening appetizers weekdays in the Executive Lounge. While the fitness center is sufficient, active travelers will appreciate the lakeside jogging path--with the temperate climate of the Carolina's it is in use almost year-round. Carowinds Theme Park is nearby, and families will be happy to know that kids under 12 can stay free in their parent's room.
