Lynzee a master cosmetologist at spa 51 gives me advice on hair products for after salon use so I can have the salon look everyday. She carries on interesting topics about every day life. She keeps me informed on the progress of my hair keeping me confident that its going to look amazing. And by the time I'm walking out the door I have a smile on my face and a walk with confidence. I love knowing my hair is being taken care of by the best, and the best is Lynzee Butler at Spa 51.

The place is dirty. I sat under a dryer and got to look at the sink with a dustbin full of hair. My stylist Lynzee dropped the comb she was using on the dirty floor and picked it up and used it again. Looking at all the hair in the corners and dust on the floor make me wonder about overall cleanliness. Staff less then inviting. My stylist never once informed me of how long the color will have to stay on, asked if I needed anything, no conversation. I think they want to portray themselves as per their website they are an are upscale salon and therefore can charge upscale prices. Maybe several years ago, but no longer. To sit in a dirty salon, not given proper attention and pay $135 for an overall color and cut, I will go elsewhere.
Went in for a facial and came out with messed up eye brows. I felt her tweesing my brows, I'm thinking she's cleaning them up. Now, there's a difference between cleaning them up and actually going into the brow shape and getting hairs there. Now the lady was good at the facial part, that I felt she atleast deserved a tip on. Only check or cash was accepted as a tip though. I had to run to the local gas station to get cash, I really didn't notice until I got into my car in the natural sunlight.
At this point, I'm pretty livid.I go back in to Spa 51 and let them know about the situation. I was told "sorry" and that they could offer me a discount on my next service with them. I'm not interested in a discount on the next trip because there wasn't going to be one. The Manager actualy told me she didn't see anything wrong with them. That floored me, either she thinks that I'm stupid or she's blind, there's no way of fixing them unless they have some magical device that puts hair back.
By the way I wouldn't dare let them touch the other side in fear of them really botching up the job . She also stated that they didn't charge me for my brows either. OK, if I would've be charged for this job (which I didn't request) I would refuse to pay because it was horribly done. The manager then said she could talk to the lady that did the facial...for what? What kind of resolution would that have given me? Nothing. I left, really upset at the lack there of customer service. I went back in, manager was gone, I talked to the other front lady person and asked who was the owner. I was given a card with a name "Shelly" on it.
I disagree with the negative review – I am a regular client of Spa 51 and came across the negative review and wanted to reassure anyone who is interested in receiving a spa or hair service at Spa 51 will receive top customer service from a friendly, knowledgable staff. This salon differs from other salons I have visited in that the staff is not pretentious or snotty. The staff at Spa 51 are very welcoming and friendly while keeping a professional standard. I would recommend this salon to anyone who is interested in receiving top quality hair or spa services.
Response to Previous Review.. – This review was written by a previous client in which we refused an employment opportunity. She is very upset with us.
Her daughter came in for a color correction and her stylists told her she did not know what she was going to have to do to her hair to get it the correct color. She told her the price could run $20 or more. As everyone knows, color correction is very unpredictible. You can never quote a specific price. Our stylists spent 2 hours with this client. We told her the final costs was $40.00 and she said all she had was $32.00. I then told her that $30.00 would be fine and I would not charge her the extra $10.00. Her mother then called the salon, very upset, on several occassions. We were closed at the time and we explained what we had done and why, but she wanted her $10.00 back. Her stylists said she would happily refund the money. The mother still was not happy and proceeded to come to the salon and beat on the door and kick it. We would not respond to her any further.
We are a very professional spa and we do not treat people unfairly. I felt that we needed to respond to this review.
Great Service! – I went to Spa 51 for a consultation and color correction. Ben did a great job with both. He explained the best way to correct the color with the least amount of damage to my already over-processed hair, which happened to be a less expensive alternative. He not only did a good job explaining what he was going to do, but he was able to deliver the service as well. Everyone was friendly, Ben was attentive, and the salon was clean. High marks for Spa 51!
