The Scene – The outside of the white-and-green pagoda-style building rising off of Highway 51 is guarded by statues of Chinese-style lions. Inside, it's taupe with black and red accents and lots of gold leaf. The menu could be considered Chinese comfort food--lots of traditional standards, done well. Soups include Wanton and Hot and Sour. The entrée list features Hunan Delight and Mandarin Beef or jellyfish for the daring.

From the outside d??cor it looked really inviting and authentic. The entrance bar reminded me of a sports bar with T.V. The ladies bathroom was filthy and in very poor condition. The menu was plentiful and the manager likes to help you decide what to eat. The food was ok. The service pleasant. Would not rush back here

Not a good place to go for a date with your husband. It's not a romantic place and the music was awful. The food was ok.

We also visited Wan Fu on Mother's Day. We called to make a reservation and they said they could seat us around 7p. When we got there, there was a bit of a wait. We were seated and we promptly ordered appetizers and kids meals. About 15 minutes later, we ordered our main dishes. Around 8:00p we flagged a waiter and inquired about the food and were told that they would bring everything together. We said that we wanted the appetizers and kids meals first, not all at once. 10 min later we got 1 appetizer. 10 min later we got 2 appetizers (one was incorrect so they took it away and replaced it 10 min later). Now its 8:30p and we've been there 90 min. The kids are frantic and starved. We asked again about the food and were assured it was on its way (they explained the kitchen was overwhelmed and the tickets were filled when they were filled). We suggested they should have told us they could not handle the orders (the restaurant was busy but not unusually so - similar to a Friday or Saturday night - certainly not the crowds you would expect at other Charlotte restaurants on Mother's Day) when we called to make reservations or when we were waiting for a table (good restaurants do). We spoke with management to let them know this was not the way to handle customers, especially ones with children! After some discussion, he agreed to discount our food 15% even though that was not our goal - we simply wanted them to acknowledge that they had made several errors and had treated us poorly. We did finally receive our food after 9:00p Sure, it tasted decent but at that point, we would have eaten paper. The children did not eat ( was past their bedtimes and they became sleepy ). We just boxed up the items and left. Our bill did not have any reduction in price as promised (people should mean what they say) and when we left, we spoke to management. They were only concerned that we had paid the bill, and did not want to listen to any of our comments. I will not eat there again.
- Pros: South Charlotte location
- Cons: attitude of owners and employees
