Bill Spoons B-B-Q The best in Charlotte. The absolute best B-B-Q in Charlotte & the surrounding area. The friendliest & most competent staff around. The B-B-Q is a flavorful mix of moist, tender pork & spices. The coleslaw compliments the B-B-Q perfectly! The expanded hours (Thurs, Fri, & Saturdays till 8pm) are a definite plus for me-now I can get my Spoons B-B-Q fix for dinner as well as lunch! The expanded menu is a great addition. I just have to mention the Grilled Cheese sandwich-OMG I haven't tasted one like this since my mom passed away. Absolutely delicious! The bread was buttered perfectly & when I bit into it the cheese just oozed. It is now such a hard decision to pick only 1 item from the menu! EVERYTHING I have ever ordered here is delicious! And the famous hushpupppies are to die for! Crunchy on the outside & fluffy on the inside! No one else has B-B-Q or hushpuppies to compete with Spoons! A great dining experience. I will return again & again & again, & again..........

I have been punked!. are you serious? This place is a joke! The food was horrible, the atmosphere is a time warp, and the servers and cashier were down right rude!!!!

I wonder how many people they have paid to write those reviews? ARGH? And the yellow stuff that they call coleslaw resembled deviled egg filling?

Maybe it's just me, but this was not for me and my guest. We got a good laugh off of the whole experience.

I have been PUNKED!!!! (obviously) I was looking for Ashton Kutcher to jump out at any time. A serious joke!

Very Good Eastern NC Style BBQ. My family roots are in the eastern part of NC, around the Rocky Mount - Wilson area. I am used to good eastern style NC BBQ. I have lived in Charlotte for the last 20 years and I have finally say I have found a place that has excellent BBQ. I highly recommend this resturant to anyone looking for Eastern NC style BBQ, This is the best in this area.

Just what we were looking for. Did a search online as we were driving home to Virginia from Charleston, SC. Found this place with good reviews. So we stopped in. I loved everything. The coleslaw was a bit unusual but I loved the taste. The BBQ portions were quite large. The sauce was perfect. The waitress was friendly without being overly friendly. She was also expert at answering my questions regarding the food--something you rarely see these days in ANY restaurant. We bought some of the bottled sauce to bring home at the very reasonable price of $4.00. And the bathrooms were exceptionally clean and well stocked.

Bill Spoon's BBQ-review. Well with as much as I've heard about this place, I thought it would be off the chain....

Not so much!

Very disappointed. BBQ was shredded (typical East Carolina style). I'm much more of a chopped & diced fan. BBQ lacked the smoke flavor that I love (almost seemed baked). I'm also a fan of the 'bark' which was absent (the chared outside of the BBQ being smoked).

Sauce was vinegar base (which I like), but was mostly vinegar. A lot of bite. Did not like the overall sauce.

Portions were SMALL. Prices were HIGH. BBQ should be something that when cooked in larger portions, should be cheaper to produce. That leads me to the next thing......selection.

Their claim to fame is that they cook the whole hog. If that's the case, why not offer something other than just pulled pork (only meat on the menu).

Had a friend that few in from Kansas City & thought we'd show him some good ol Carolina BBQ. Had to apologize to him later for the poor choice. Wanted to give a head's up to the others out there trying to locate some good BBQ.

Best I've had in the area is......521 Bar B Que (near Sun City).

Absolutely the best Eastern NC style barbecue found in Western NC. Bill Spoon's serves the only barbecue I've ever had that's truly addicting. I've shared it with friends and family on the west coast and now I have to ship it regularly. This is Charlotte's "real deal" Eastern NC style with no sugar or tomato sauce, just the smoked cue seasoned with vinegar, red pepper and the passion for excellence that permeates every lean morsel. Top if off with crispy hush puppies, Charlotte's best sweet tea, and Spoon's banana pudding, and you'll be in hog heaven. Come hungry but don't come late; Spoon's does such a good business during the day it's not open for dinner.

Still the best. I am sad to see that Mister Spoon died, but his family is keeping the great food coming. Still the best BBQ (Eastern that is) in Charlotte.

BEST BBQ EVER!!!!!. I am not quite sure where the other person giving this review was eating at but it sure wasnt Bill Spoons. This BBQ is by far the best! My husband and i just recently moved from Texas and my uncle owns a BBQ place in Memphis so I have had plenty of BBQ in my day and this is the best BBQ I have ever had. Sorry uncle. The service is very friendly they make you feel right at home and the prices can't be beat. I bring family here every time they visit and now they are requesting I bring Bill Spoons BBQ when i visit back in Texas.

Very disappointing. I can't understand how Bill Spoon's is so highly rated. I've eaten barbecue in 16 states and I'm a certfied Kansas City Barbecue Judge. I love Carolina style pulled pork. My meal here was a small pile of pale, flavorless, shredded, unwhelming pork that desperately needed some spice and smoke. The sauce is typical vinegar based, but is also one-dimensional. There are far better places to get pulled pork than here.

In addition, the service was poor - we were given another table's meal at first, and it wasn't that busy!

The only redeeming thing is that the brunswick stew was pretty decent. Other than that, I can't reccomend Bill Spoon's for good barbecue, since it tastes like oven-baked pork, not smokey, spicy barbecue!
