Pastor Gene Lathan has Thrift Baptist growing again! This church once thrived with over 700 members scattered throughout Pawtuckett, Paw Creek, and Coulwood. Aging Membership coupled with changing demographics, however, plagued this once traditionally Caucasian Baptist Church causing membership to decline to the point of almost closing. Now however, with a "grounded in Jesus" Christian leadership style provided by the team consisting of Caucasian Pastor Gene, his Latin American wife Elena, and the dynamic and acoustically outstanding African-American Music Director Charles Williams, the church's new down to earth and extremely friendly yet diverse membership now fully reflects the community surrounding it, and it works! This church is once again on fire for Jesus. One visit is all it will take to find this out. If you haven't been to Thrift Baptist Church in several years, you need to try it now...right now! Everyone's truly welcome.
