I did not enjoy the pizza or my main dish. The food was over cooked. No home cooking here.Tiny portions. The pizza had almost no tomatoe sauce.Service was horrible.Waitress never came back.Cook brought out the dishes and was rude.
This was the worst Italian food!! Real small portions.Tasted like it was frozen food heated up.The pizza was so thin and hard as a rock. The waitress never came back.Very rude. The cook was rude and rushed us out.I will never go back.
Great Italian Food, Awful Service – I have eaten at Amalfi's several times and for some reason I have always had the luck of being served by the same woman who has the most awful personality I think I have ever encountered in any restaurant in my life. She is downright rude and gives you a lot of attitude. On several occasions she has made me feel rushed and that she would prefer to be doing a million other things than provide service to me. The owners however are very lovely people and the food is fantastic, but this one particular server (i think she might be the daughter of the owners) ruins the whole experience for me. I really love the food so I think in the future I will order my food to go so that I do not have my entire evening ruined by a miserable, disrespectful server.
WONDERFUL FOOD AND SERVICE – happened upon this place accidentally while looking for Harris Teeter. Went in to order some food to go. The owner was very funny, and welcoming. I was laughing the entire time I was ordering. When I got home, and eat dinner, it was delicious!! Food was well prepared and packed, and absolutely wonderful. I just called and made another order to go right now. I would defiantly recommend this place to anyone looking for good food, and good service. GREAT PLACE!!
Best Italian in Charlotte – My family has been going there for years. It is wonderful. Love the ziti bolognese. Lunch is great price for so much food. Just wish they were not so stingy with the bread. Would recommend to everyone.
Poor Customer Service – As if the service wasn't bad enough, the owner is always up in your face. Poor service! Will never go there again!
inexpensive lunch – went there on a recommendation.basic inexpensive restraunt..lunch had several 4.99 specials.salad standard nothing iceburg leetyce tiny slice of tomato.the bread very good.had pasta with bolanese sause.god prtion but very bland tasting.service by the family very good.had 1 slice of corner siclian pizza.the crust was awsome perfect.the rest of it standard stuff.by far nooo where near great pizza.the entire crust was made perfect.good for a cheap lunch.average food
You'll think you just stepped off a side street in Rome instead of a strip mall in the suburbs. – The Scene
The place is always bustling, with shouts from family members (who run the restaurant) to each other and to the customers, many of them regulars.
Dishes like pizza, lasagna and baked ziti are basic, but always made with fresh ingredients right when you order. You can taste the fresh mozzarella, basil and homemade marinara. Your plate will come full, with hot, crispy bread on the side.
The restaurant itself is a small, spare place, but the food is quite the opposite. Amalfi is a real place in Italy, the hometown of the proprietors. It's a place you'd have loved to have grown up in, at least around dinnertime. Their Charlotte restaurant is the closest you'll get.
Best Pizza and Calzones – If you want a true New York Pizzeria you'll love Amalfi's. If you love real pizza and calzones you have to give it a try. Absolutely the best pizza in Charlotte maybe even in NC and SC. It is a great place to take the kids for a meal you can all enjoy. I recommend going early or calling a head if you have a large group because it is always busy. And if you cant wait get it to go it is worth it!
Nickle, Dime, Wasted Time? – While Alamfi's undoubtedly has one of the finest Sicilian (square, thick) pizzas in Charlotte, getting it the way you want it will cost you as all toppings are a'la carte (same with Portofino's & Nichi's). Getting reasonable service here is a crap shoot. On two occasions dining alone I walked out because I was never served. On one occasion with my wife, we walked out for the same reason. Ditto on no bottomless drinks; another example of how you can get nickel and dimed here.
Food is great; Service SUCKS; kinda pricey.
