Food Poisoning - Diarrhea for 4+ days. AVOID at all costs!!! Wish I could give it less than 1 star. Just went there this past Thursday to pick up some Chinese to-go and 3 hrs after eating it I had diarrhea and threw up multiple times to the point where there’s nothing left in me. It is now Sunday and I still have a sour stomach with diarrhea, hopefully it will be gone by tomorrow. On a better note, atleast I only missed work on Friday and am using the rest of the weekend for rest. Will never go there again. Not sure if it was the “chicken” (if that’s really what it is) or the eggroll that caused it, but this meal was the only one I consumed that day and definitely was the cause of the poisoning. Never Again! Stay far away!

Dirty out of the way place. Small portions and expensive compared to what you can get everywhere else.

Not consistent quality. I have been eating at Shun Lee for just a few months now. Usually I go there on Sundays after church. My friend and I have been dining in, and the food has been good. They are operating with barely a full staff, so the service to be seated and waited on can be a wait if there are several people coming at the same time. However, the food has been good enough that we have overlooked this. Twice now I have called in an order for pickup in the evening. Twice it has not been good. Both times I called the restaurant to advise, and they offered me a free replacement meal the first time. The second time I told them I would not be coming back. The Kum Pao Chicken was nasty! I could not swallow the first bite and should have called the Health Dept. The egg roll was obviously left over from earlier in the day and reheated. Like I said, if you go there during the daytime, they seem to be o.k. But beware going in the evening. I have written them off completely. You can't work your family all day long and expect to get good quality, consistent service out of them.

Best Chinese food and atmosphere in town.. We haven't been to Shun Lee Palace in years until tonight. We moved and just started patronizing a spot nearer home - until it closed recently. What a treat to find the same gracious friendly owner, and the food even better than we remembered. The Honey Peach Shrimp was absolutely unbelievable. Like nothing I have ever eaten! There are lots of spicy items on the menu, but if that doesn't appeal to you, the chef can adjust the heat to suit your taste. The service was unbelievable also. Our glasses never even approached empty before someone refilled them.

We've eaten at many of the chinese resturants in Charlotte, but Shun Lee Palace will definately be our most patronized spot again.

Our sincere thanks goes out to the folks at Shun Lee Palace, for adding new dishes but not loosing the old favorites - and the same old charm. A true eating pleasure!

Traditional Chinese food, sizable portions and reasonable prices have made this a winner in Charlotte for decades.. The Scene
Set in a strip shopping center that harkens back to the days of the Nixon administration, Shun Lee Palace is worlds apart from those new hoity-toity "Chinese Cuisine" places hitting town. Acoustical ceiling tiles, cream walls and faded red accents are subtle yet comforting. Service is unbelievably efficient.

The Food
Nothing surprising, mostly old favorites: moo shu pork, sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, beef with garlic sauce. Lunch combos come with rice and egg roll. Some hot food lovers might complain that the "spicy" items aren't nearly spicy enough. Ask the chef to liven the dish up for you if you dare. Just watch out for the little red peppers.

Use to NYC delivery. Although Shun Lee doesn't deliver (and shares the namesake of the legendary Shun Lee Palace in NYC...don't be confused), it offers Chinese food similar in quality to the many cheap places one finds in NYC. The prices maybe a dollar or two higher but for those looking for a decent General Tso's or a formidable Lo Mein, try Shun Lee. I haven't eaten at every Chinese offering in CLT, but this is the best I've sampled in its class. Good take out for watching a movie or staying in for the evening.
