Teresa at Modern Salon is the best!. It isn't a whole salon but the specific stylist you go to that deserves a review. And after going to her for years and year, I can't say enough good about Teresa, who works at the Birkdale location and, on Thursdays, at Metro. She is superb, makes sure she is working with you to achieve what you want, and is truly concerned if there is something wrong, working until she has made it right. I know that raving about her will make it harder than it already is to get an appointment with her, but Teresa deserves it!

Great Clips spent more time on me. I recently paid modern salon and spa a visit for the first time (phillips place location). My stylist kept cutting me off when i tried to tell him what i wanted. He did not even do what i asked for. Honestly, I've had less done to my hair at great clips before and they spent more time with me. I felt like my stylist was in a huge rush and just wanted to get done with me. For the amount of money spent on the cut, i feel like they should have listened and spent more time with me. Hurry in and hurry out. Too bad that was my first time there. I will not return.

favorite. LOVE LOVE LOVE modern.

I have been going here for years.

Everyone does a great job and it feels like home for a couple hours.

Everyone there is very friendly and helpful.

The stylists are very knowledgeable and extremely talented.

I have never had a bad haircut here.

it is a little pricey...but it is worth EVERY dollar.

Over the years I have lived in a couple different parts of the carolinas and I still only go to modern at phillips place.

I make a trip to see my family every month and during that stay I make sure to visit modern and get a hair cut and wax.

If you need a waxing I would suggest Sima.

They did start doing cash tip only awhile ago, and I just remember to bring cash in with me whenever I go...no big deal :)

Cash tip only? REALLY?. I went here for a brow wax. The spa area is quiet and relaxing, and i was happy with the service until i tried to check out. They won't allow you to put a tip on your credit/debit card. Since i didn't have any cash, the esthetician didn't get tipped. Get with the times, Modern. Debit cards are here to stay. I won't go back until they change their "policy".

Not worth the money. I have gotten good cuts and color at Modern, not the best in town, but good enough. I stopped going because the price is outrageous. (And, in an unnecessary annoyance, the tip cannot be added to the credit card.)

Went back one last time. Though when I called I said I wanted someone less expensive, I was scheduled with a "senior" stylist. The end result is acceptable, but anyone so slow and methodical doesn't strike me as senior. Even burned me with the dryer repeatedly. 20 minutes late, slow as molasses and over $200 before the tip.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. My once healthy, sandy, blond hair has been replaced with distressed locks with a horrid, orange tint. I went to modern at hearst tower for what I thought would be a routine color and cut and was in for 3 hours of terrible service and even more horrific results. Clearly something went awry from the very beginning, but the staff's inexperience became incredibly obvious as they swarmed around me and kept trying to "fix" the issue until my scalp had blistered. Yes, as in a chemical burn. I complained that I did not like the color, and that I was fairly certain something like this should not burn my scalp. The stylist had the audacity to tell me that I needed to wait for her to dry it. We dried it. STILL TERRIBLE. So, she told me that I needed to wash it myself a couple of times. Well, I've done that and I am still miserable. I cannot believe they allowed me to leave the salon looking like Carrot Top, but they did and gladly charged me full price. Too bad my hair was such a mess that I was unable to even get it cut because we ran out of time. I will avoid this place like the plauge and have told all of my friends to cancel their appointments. I will gladly take my business elsewhere. In the meantime, I recommend the Hearst Tower team attend some coloring workshops.

ugg AVOID AT ALL COSTS LITERALLY. My color was a job my kids could of done at home, this salon is overpriced and a complete let down. My highlights WERE AWFUL. I WENT TO ANOTHER SALON and I am HAPPY TO SAY PERFECT.

This salon should close down it is over rated.

Makeup Artist to the In-the Know Crowd. Just moved to town and have been planning my wedding! My nerves and my sanity have been tested to the extreme to say the least! Anyway, i felt i needed to write to tell you about my awesome find. I was directed to Modern by just about everyone i talked to for my hair-- when i was there i met the makeup artist Logan S. just by chance! Wow she is adorable, nice, and extremly talented! She did a consultation on the spot for me and is now doing my makeup for my wedding as well as the wedding party! I feel completly taken care of in the makeup dept. for my wedding day-- knowing i have the best makeup artist definatly in charlotte if not anywhere! Book a consultation or just go by and meet her-- and thank me later!

Great haircut, highly recommend. I was so happy with my haircut at the Philips Place location that I had to write. I got a better cut than I asked for (a short bob ~3 inches off my current length) and felt that Porcha really listened and had great insights. She was personable and awesome--I can't wait to go back. It was also very reasonably priced compared to other salons where I've had cuts. I really can't say enough nice things about Porcha. The salon was nice and clean and the front desk staff was polite. There are lots of products but no pressure to buy.
