A Step Back in Time.
After a long wait, I finally decided to try Zack's on South Blvd and it's everything I had expected. While some people may be turned off by the old fashioned-haven't-been-touched-in 30-years
attitude, I think it definitely helps with what they are doing. The food just wouldn't work in any other setting.
I had the special of the day on Monday and it was a Ribeye sandwich, I was a little disappointed in the size of the cut of meat, but then again for 6 bucks, it was a good deal. The steak sandwich was very flavorful and juicy. I opted to pay a little extra for onion rings and it's definitely a good upgrade. The onion rings are nice and crispy and the onion doesn't fall out when you take a bite which is always a welcome sign of a good ring.
Next time I'll try the burger, as everyone raves about their quality. The reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because that's what it deserves. It's a rinky dink hole in the wall type place that serves food meant to be eaten in that type of place. It's no fancy burger house so if you're looking for something modern or don't like stepping back in time, you may not like this place.…
Oh, You Like "In'n'Out" burgers?. The burger here is ridiculously good. It's the closest thing I've ever had to an "In'n'Out" burger anywhere other than. They also make milkshakes, etc. Very old fashioned. Be sure to order the "Zach's Special" burger.…
Best Burgers in Charlotte. PROS: Great Burgers & Fries, great price. CONS: Busy during Lunch hours, (*not a con for them*). BUT NOT OPENED ON THE WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing burgers! Excelent service and clean place. The patio is my my favorite. I even loved the music!. Try the homemade Onion rings! I was in heaven! The Zack special is my favoritem, howver the fish fry is the best intown!
Forget the fast food. This is what a takeout burger was meant to be..
The Scene
Zack's has been serving up burgers--and hot dogs, fried chicken and fish--since 1975, but looking around, you might swear it's been longer than that. Laminate tables and counters
line the walls and windows. The paper tray liners are so old, they show Interstate 40 stopping at Raleigh. That's the kind of nostalgia Zack's offers, in addition to great food. You'll eat alongside moms with kids covered in ketchup, construction workers with two double burgers and fries each, professionals with their ties slung over their shoulders, and office park workers juggling mountain-sized bags of to-go orders.
The Food
Hey, they don't call this Zack's Burritos: Order a double cheeseburger with onion rings and a cherry Sprite. And despite what anyone says, your instinct is correct ... Cheese fries are a perfect complement to battered onion rings.…
