Selwyn continues to draw upscale crowds thanks to its real estate. The pub rests in a quaint old house on the edge of Myers Park.

Great Spot

I recently went to this bar for lunch and was very happy with not only our service but our food. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive and we were able to sit by the cozy fire with a great view of the tv. I would definitely go again.

This bar went from a nice chill place to hangout to a bar with 2 idiots attempting to serve beers. Avoid this place at all cost. If I was the owner, I would hire 2 friendly women to bartend and kick the 2 geeks to the curb. Trust me, go to Angry Ales... The loser bartenders only complain if they dont get tipped enough. They are about as cool as a crotch rash.

One of the worst experiences of my life

Our waiter took 15 minutes to even acknowledge us. Once he did he started to take our order and then left for another 10 minutes. When he came back he was like "Sorry about that, I saw this girl I know and I wanted to go say hi". He was also a huge pr-ck with an ego to match. DUDE, YOU'RE A WAITER.
The food came out what seemed like hours later and wow. I know this isn't a 5 star restaurant but it was so disgusting, even for bar food. We could barely have a conversation with screaming drunken idiots shouting at the top of their lungs. They overcharged us on the check and getting them to fix it was nothing short of a nightmare. 3 hours later we finally got out of there. I'm never going back to this place.

Or, for some, when not to go: whenever any sort of college sporting events---especially Carolina games---are being televised. The crowd gets pretty wild.
Where to Sit:
Selwyn's most compelling attraction is its patio, easily one of the best in Charlotte. Fenced off to keep the road noise out, and sheltered by an ancient, enveloping oak tree, it's a great spot to rest any time of the day.
