Poor customer service.
I was in Suarez Bakery on 4/4/2012 to purchase some cookies. I'm an outside sales rep, so I often stop at a bakery or donut shop to buy "goodies" for my customers. Since I've in lived in the Southpark area for the past 15 years, I went to Suarez.
I ordered 2 dozen cookies at $1.50 each. I ask the gentleman waiting on me if I could possibly get a discount since I was ordering so many. He agreed to 10% off.
While he was finishing up with my order, an employee/manager started to ring me up. She asked her coworker what I was purchasing. He told her my order and said to give me a 10% discount. The look on her face was astounding. She was not happy about any kind of discount, and she let it be known right in front of me.
I felt bad, so I told her I would pay full price. No argument from her, so I paid full price. She didn't thank me for my business as I proceeded to leave.
The whole time I was there, not one person smiled and good customer service was nonexistent. I don't believe in paying a high price for mediocre product and bad customer service. Please give your business to someone that appreciates it.

Perfect Cuban Bread. I read in Creative Loafing that this bakery makes Cuban bread, which is almost impossible to find in Charlotte, so being from Miami, I had to try it. I called beforehand just to be sure, and they do bake it, but only offer it on Saturday afternoons. I timed it perfectly because a fresh batch was just coming out of the oven when I got there. I bought two loaves, and maybe it's just because I haven't really good Cuban bread in so long, but it was some of the best I've ever had, just like you'd find in Miami. They said the owner is Cuban and grew up in Miami so that probably has something to do with it.
Amazing cakes.
My husband surprised me with a chocolate mousse cake from Suarez Bakery, and it was AMAZING! Absolutely delicious. It was rich and moist, and was decorated with wonderful chocolate shavings and fresh chocolate-dipped strawberries.
I stopped in a few days ago and picked up a cookie and an eclair and they were both great too.
Great little bakery. I used to just buy whatever was at Harris Teeter, but now I come here for everything; birthday cakes, breads, pastries for work functions, holiday desserts, and my kids won't let me drive by without taking them in for something - they love their cupcakes and cookies, I'm partial to their eclairs. I'm pretty sure they make everything in-house, so it's always fresh, and it beats anything you'll find at a grocery store.
Not Impressed!!!.
I was very disappointed in my wedding cake. My wedding was centered around red roses. It was very important to me to have red roses on my cake. I even took pictures of what I wanted. When the cake arrived at the venue, there was not one red rose at all on the cake. There were red flowers but they were NOT roses!!! I also wanted black vines on the cake which there wasn't one, there were black details but no vine!!
The cake was good but I would never recommend this bakery to anyone. It is important that the cake be perfect for your big day and it wasn't even close to what we wanted, even with pictures provided!!!
Great Birthday Cake. Thanks to you cake bakers/decorators there. You created a wonderful b'day cake for my 6 year-old grandson!
tiramisu is NOT good and NOT tiramisu. Really disappointed with the tiramisu. Instead of whipped cream it's nasty sugar cake icing. They didn't use lady fingers but in their place is a dried out cake. Tiramisu is supposed to be a light, airy, subtle treat. This is crap. Never, ever again.
Hands down, the BEST bakery in Charlotte. I defy you to walk into Suarez Bakery and not desperately want to try one of everything. Luckily, they pretty much always have samples for you to try. Ive been coming here pretty regularly for over 10 years it has never been anything short of amazing. This is just a good, old-fashioned bakery. The sights, smells, and tastes are amazing. Whatever you are looking for, they probably make it every day, and even if they dont, you can probably special order it. Everything they create is crazy good, and the prices are very reasonable.
AWESOME. Carlos' doughnuts put all others to shame. His prices are very reasonable and worth it. The Chocolate Mousse cake is a must try! His Key Lime pie compares to even the finest Charleston Bakeries. Heaven on a fork!
