The Scene – Removed from the hustle and bustle of uptown, this local favorite has all the makings of a true 1940's roadhouse: dark wood paneling, red booths and dim lighting. There's even a neon sign out front. Candles in dimpled red votives and wagon-wheel chandeliers add to the ambience. Diners relax at the bar with beer or bourbon and ginger before dinner. Servers are warm and accommodating. – – The Food – The menu features traditional steakhouse fare, including seafood and poultry selections, but the main event here is the beef. After reading the reviews on the web, we tried this hundred dollar mistake! After I explained that I couldn't read the menu, the waitress brought me a flashlight with a magnifiing glass. Everything on menu was in the $21 to $30 dollar range! We ordered two appt. which were both great. When the main entree's arrived we had tough and dry steaks on both plates. Burnt tasting sweet potato's were the side dish. There was no flavor at all to the steak. We were truly disappointed but said nothing. OUR TOTAL BILL FOR TWO WAS $72. AND CHANGE! I LEFT $100 DOLLARS AS OUR WAITRESS WAS THE BEST I HAVE HAD IN YEARS. SHE GRABBED THE CHECK AND NEVER EVEN SAID THANKS FOR THE $27.00 TIP!!! SHE DISAPPEARED AND WE NEVER SAW HER AGAIN. I bought a pint of the horseradish cocktail sauce and I really feel this was the only good thing about this restaurant.
- Pros: Shrimp cocktail sauce was spicy and very good!!!
- Cons: Dark to the point I could't read the menu with 20/20!!!

We eat here every time we come back from a trip or go to the airport to pick someone up. It's great every time. I'm a 3rd generation devotee (my family has been coming for at least 50 years)! Everything is delicious- I usually order the teriyaki chicken because it's a "comfort food" for me, as I've been ordering it my whole life. You have to try the shrimp cocktail. The sauce is amazing! But have a buttered cracker on-hand, because water won't put out the fire! The location is definitely out of the way, but it's worth the trip!
- Pros: Great food!
- Cons: Location is off-the-beaten-path
