Simply a work of PHOTOGRAPHIC... ART!!!.
I was introduced to Mr. Edison in 1997. He was among 4 photographers that my fiancée and I interviewed for a 1998 wedding. The high quality restored pictures and portraits on the wall, integrity, time management, and his stern professionalism sold us on using his service. Everything ran like clock work on the day of the wedding. A time was set (including agreements on who should be in each photo, etc...) for wedding party pictures and who needed to arrive by when, etc. It was amazing --- most of the bride and groom pictures were taken before the wedding in the church without us seeing each other. The joint pictures were taken after the "I Dos." It was so efficient that our out of town guests --- which represented 80 percent of the attendees ---- were amazed at how timely everything flowed with us living in Maryland and executing a timely formal function in NC by ourselves --- with no more than 4 trips to the Carolinas. Mind you, this was wayyyy before the high-end technology rage that we are in as of 2011.
The experience with Mr. Edison was so pleasant that I used him three more times -- in 2007 when my mother died suddenly in Charlotte; in 2009 when a 90+ year old spouse of a sorority sister died suddenly in Arizona, and in 2011 to restore some photos that would be used for a Church display in Maryland, etc. Each time -- I picked up the phone, often calling from a state outside of NC, explained what I desired, and received a product that well exceeded my expectation and imagination!!! Trust me, my standards are very high!!!
Just as a sample...when my mother died, I took in a group of photos with the intent of using a specific one for her memorial. He patiently sifted through my collection and said, "Let’s use this one." I turned up my nose as it wasn't the one I had in mind and really wedded to... and said, "I hate that {professionally done} picture." I didn't like the outfit, her hair style or make up, --- it just looked like she stayed up all night and rolled out of bed and said "take this picture so I can go..." He asked what time I needed it and produced not one but two products two days in advance: A fabulous portrait of her that really looked like an oil painting, produced from the picture that I just hated; and a slideshow presentation of all of the pictures I brought in, some pictures from the 1998 wedding --- including some pictures he had my brother email to him from Virginia Beach. He also added unique yet appropriate and uplifting background music!!!
My mother died Monday evening. I called Mr. Edison Wednesday. The Memorial was Saturday morning. He created the portrait, shipped the negative to another state -- electronically of course --- to be custom framed, and delivered to Charlotte, NC without any flaws or mishaps. He also focused on the details by instructing me to use a bright colored draping --- no black --- for easel that the portrait would rest upon. "This is the celebration of your mom's life; notice the sparkle of her eyes in the {framed} portrait.
We received sooo many compliments that I did the same for my sorority sister in Arizona as a surprise gift to her. The protocol was the same. I called Mr. Edison from Maryland. We talked. I sent photos to him via overnight mail. He sent the portrait directly to my girlfriend in Arizona. I was so confident in his work that I didn't need an advance look!!
My sorority sister called me breathless when she received this surprise package. Her husband also died suddenly --- the point being Mr. Edison did not have a lot of prep time. I visited my girlfriend almost a year later. The work that Mr. Edison had done was off my radar until I walked into my girlfriend's living room. It -- his work -- was incredible!!!!
I could obviously go on...but I think you get the point!
Worst photobook ever. I paid approximately 800.00 for 45 photos, 1 day booking and a digital book. Edison but a digital book in front of me and told me that this was the best option. He did not show me another book. The pictures were digital and Edison did not do anything to the photos. The lighting was off. The size of the pictures was way off. Everyone was small even in a 5x10. I use photoshop program and I told him that I could show him how to use the program. He made a call to the printer and he told me that they said that that was as good as it gets. Edison admitted to me that he did not know how to use the program after I complained about the terrible photos. I asked him to put my photos on disk. I am now stuck correcting my own pictures. Nice man but he does not know how to handle the technology. If you want to cry go to Edisons.
