If Cheer's changed it's name!.
Been going to Yesteryears for the past 8 years! Probably one of the best and friendly bars in Charlotte.
Walked in once and I was hooked. Very eclectic mix of people from their 20's through the 50's and everyone mixes quite well no matter what their age! Yes little 23 year old girl, there are some 50 year olds that go there! I strongly advise you to go back one night and get the real feel of the place. Place usually picks up on weekends after 11 pm. Most of the regulars stop after work but have been known to stay until closing. Plus you're safe there. Fighting is NOT tolerated by anyone! OH! Best nacho's in Charlotte!!!!
Calling all drunks near Independence Blvd!. this is a place to hang out. the second time you come back there will be people who know you. all of the regulars and wait staff ar friendly. there is memorabilia everywhere. it is kinda like a big dorm room. prices are good for drinks and food. half of the the food is really good, the other half just isnt. they have pool tables, DJ steven on the karaoke, wii on the big screen (ask bartender) free air hockey, fooseball. there is no theme. just hang out drink and make some friends. if you come here twice, youll come here for life.
the nachos are huge.
I'm going to start off by saying-this bar is not for everyone! if you're looking for a hottie to hook up with, hate your clothes smelling like cigarettes, or are going to the bar as a DD-STAY AWAY!!!! On the other hand, if you enjoy drinking yourself under the table and still having a low tab or if you dont mind listening to someone destroy a song during weekend karaoke come on in! this place isnt for one-timers. it does take a few times coming in to get used to it but it doesnt take long to make friends with the friendly regulars and to have a good time.
If you walk in this bar along, youll soon be walking out with friends!
and always remember-dont threaten the bartender with a baseball bat because youll get banned for at least 30 days!
Here's a reality check!. Okay - let's be absolutely clear. Yesteryears is a DIVE. Now that we have that out of the way.... You can't beat the 10.99 steak special, the waitresses are wonderful and get to know you by name and the drink specials are priced right. If you are too good for a dive - stay away. If you want to have a good time and good food, come on down. By the way - the KJ that was bad is gone, there's a new guy. Give him a chance. We are low class and proud of it.
Great Place to let your hair down!. Great place to have fun with everyone there. It's small enough so everyone is included in encouraging a Karoke singer whether they are an old pro or a beginner. The dance floor is large enough for about 10-12 people to do the electric slide. A couple of pool tables are separate but close enough to still see what's happening. They even have a basketball shoot, like at the old carnival! No prizes are awarded, sorry! The atmosphere and decor is all old school with a statue of Elvis w/guitar and Marilyn Monroe on the stage. The service is great, especially COOKIE! Steve (the owner) is the tallest guy there! If it's your birthday (especially the ladies) let Steve know and you'll be given a special treat!!! It's worth it! Trust me!
If You're Under 50 Stay Away!!!!!. I was looking for a fun place to celebrate my 23rd birthday and i read this other guys review thinking that it would be fun!!! Boy was I wrong!!! Everyone in there was probably 50! They did have decent drink specials but the drinks were watered down and there was some dried food on my glass!!!!!! Unless you are seriosly desperate don't go there!!!!!!
Home away from Home. Walking into Yesteryears is like coming to a Home away from Home. I went once and did not return for 1 full year. When I came back, the owner remembered who I was! Everytime I walk in there is like coming home regardless of how long I've been away. I only wish more places had that caliber of service!
