stayed away too long!!. I moved across charlotte and away from Boudreaux's. Used to go every week or two. Now I havent been there in months until this weekend and it was fantastic. Definitely worth a special trip.
Incredible Food & Service - Great Atmosphere.
The food is amazing. Authentic, spicy, feel good food. Check out the new bar next door that is connected to the place. Same owner, obviously. Don't forget the Cajun Marys on Sundays.
Someone else reviewed this as bad service? Weird. I've been going for 3 years, & never had a bad server / bartender. They are always friendly & make you feel like family.
I also recommend the fried chicken sandwich. MMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great food but very poor service.
Well just as other reviewers have stated the food is great and the service is just awful. Our waiter seemed overwhelmed and he had 4 tables. And don't ask for lemon with your H2O because you won't get any...even if you ask twice!!! And trust me our table wasn't the only one asking for water with a lemon and receiving waters ten minutes later. They also were telling people they were out of home fries...when people kept seeing plates coming out of the kitchen with home fries on them...just another curious service factoid.
But with all the negativety of the service, the food was very good when it came. Stay away from the Cajun Marys...a painfully average bloody mary.
Go here when you want good cajun food and have 3 hours to sit down for a meal.
Consistently great food, Consistently bad service.
Great brunch every Sunday. Excellent apple pancakes, eggs benedict (with tasso ham), and more. Accompanied by bloody marys, mimosas, or coffee that's quite good. But I've never been to a place with such consistently bad service--it's like every Sunday is opening day. It's really amazing! Maybe it's just a brunch thing?
Recommended for the food, but go with plenty of time and PLENTY of patience.
Boudreaux's adds spice to its NoDa neighborhood with Cajun and Creole cuisine..
The Food
Ooh la la! From the gator bites to the gumbo ya ya, Boudreaux's makes the best of the bayou come alive. All the Cajun favorites are here--boiled crawfish, oyster po' boys, muffalettas and jambalaya--along with some delightful twists, such as the shrimp praline and chicken pecan. Vegetarians can find a jambalaya just for them on the menu, and folks who've abandoned the fight against fat might want to try the rich étouffée. Skip the shrimp cocktail: five teensy guys that looked lost on their bed of lettuce.
The Drinks
There's a full bar with a decent wine selection, but don't bypass the Cajun libations. Hurricanes, Bayou Bombs and Cajun Marys make you feel like you're ready for Mardi Gras, year-round.
The Scene
Painted cement floors and exposed ductwork reveal the soul of this renovated building. Hanging old-time windows--suspended from the ceiling--add a layer of visual interest. Tones of gold and auburn provide toasty warmth (or is that the food?). Here you'll see laid-back artsy types mixing with young professionals--the typical NoDa types.
Fabulous!. Great restaurant, great atmosphere, great drinks! A definite 10.... Highly recommended.
