Mariscos is Spanish for seafood. Mariscos La Mexicana, however, translates to so much more..
The Scene
The place doesn't look like much from the outside, but step inside and you'll feel like you've headed south of the border-- the authenticity hits you as soon as you walk through the front door. The air tingles with Spanish, from the music playing softly on the radio, to the Latin soap operas, news and sports on the TV, to the conversation of the servers behind the counter.
The Food
While you really can't go wrong with Mariscos' excellent offerings, the parillada, coctel de cameron (shrimp cocktail) and pescado enteres (a whole tilapia fish sauteed, then served with sauces) especially stand out. A sweet surprise: Every diner gets a complimentary postre (dessert), like the Mexican "fortune cookie" made of fried tortilla dough and topped with cinnamon, honey, whipped cream and chocolate sauce. Magnifico.
