Not so much. This place used to have the very best chili in Charlotte. Very mediocre now.
Excellent burgers. Some of the best burgers and fries in Charlotte in an interesting little shop. It's nice that there are still some non-chain places like this still around.
Great food .... not fancy. If you are looking for fancy, this is not it. However, if you are looking for good honest food for a fair price, then you have found it at Lupie's. We drive over an hour several times a year to eat here. Our favorite is the vegetable plate. The food is carefully prepared and the quantity is generous. We especially like the mac and cheese, slaw, green beans, and pintos and onions; a nice hunk of corn bread comes with it. The quiche is also very good. Lupie, the owner and creator, is almost always there, which explains the consistency of the food.…
Wow, that was bad.. Thursday night at 8 PM, we were greeted and seated immediately. Good start. Unfortunately, I asked two questions about beer ("Do you have any drink specials?" and "What do you have on tap?"). The waiter---a bearded, scruffy-looking loser dressed as if he put on what he found in a dumpster down the street---suddenly turned and walked away. We watched for the next ten minutes as he carefully walked from one part of the restaurant to another, casually drinking out of his to-go cup and intentionally ignoring us. Eventually, my wife and I left. No chili is worth that sort of treatment. What's more, we both worked in restaurants. When you hear horror stories about what waiters do to your food, THAT is the guy that does it. Eat at Lupie's at your own risk.…
Very much a neighborhood joint type place. Finally got around to eating here after hearing about and reading about this place. It's very casual. Got there just in time - seated right away, and 10 minutes later there was a line out the door. We split the vegetarian burger and the vegetarian chili. The burger was average - don't get mustard on it - it overpowers all the other flavors and even wiping it off won't make it go away. The vegetarian chili was pretty good - if you're used to meat chili, you'll definitely notice the difference, but if you're OK with meat substitutes, it's good. You go there for the scene and for affordable food. Not the best food you'll ever eat, but a good experience.…
