Great For Special Occasion.
My wife and I went to Melting Pot to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. When we were seated we received a very nice card signed by the staff wishing us a "Happy 25th Anniversary". Pretty decent wine list and special cocktails. Fairly expensive for wine but they were having a special on Thursdays in April and glasses of wine were half priced.
We decided to have the four course dinner which is $39.95 per person. We picked the Swiss cheese fondue to go with bread and vegetables and it was very good. We both had salad with the House dressing and enjoyed it. Main course was shrimp, steak, chicken and pork and we selected "Cocovan" . Takes 1 to 2 minutes to cook the shrimp or meat and it is quite easy. Meal also comes with potato's and vegetables.
After that came dessert and our waiter recommended a chocolate sauce with crushed "Snickers bars" and it was a great selection. You got several different items for dessert like cheesecake and strawberries.
Our waiter was very good, went over the menu and gave his personal favorites. He was very attentive and checked on us to make sure all was going well. Dinner took about two hours and I enjoyed being in a quiet booth with my wife.
Overall, it was a great way to celebrate a special occasion. Four course dinner with wine and tip came to about $125. It may be a bit pricey for some but I think you do get your money's worth and after all it is a special occasion place and not somewhere you visit regularly.
Fun restaurant. My family and I visited Melting Pot a few nights ago, and it was great. My kids thought the dip/cook your food concept of fondue was great, and the service was really good. My wife and kids really enjoyed the cheese fondue, and I liked the steak. We had no complaints with the food, it was good, but nothing exceptional. We will probably return in the future.
It's hip to dip at this cozy fondue-lover's paradise..
In Short
Booths equipped with tabletop fondue pots are clustered together inside the intimate dining room. Start with a cheese fondue, including an assortment of breads, veggies and fruits for dipping. Entrees include lobster, center-cut filet, fish, chicken and vegetarian selections served with a variety of dipping sauces. For dessert, try the flaming turtle, a mix of chocolate and caramel flambéed tableside, served with nut-covered marshmallows, fresh fruit, pound cake, brownies and cheesecake.
What a treat!. I love this restaurant! I visit this restaurant about 4 times a year and really look forward to it. Yes, it is a bit expensive but it's not an every day kind of place. You need to enjoy the company of the person you're with because it's a 2 hour meal at least. I love everything from the salad to the cheese to the chocolate. I highly recommend it for a romantic night on the town.
Best place to propse. My fiance picked this one to propose to me. When you call for reservations they ask if you're celebrating anything. He told them about the surprise, and they gave us the perfect seating! We had our own private area and the server was great! I was scared we wouldn't cook our food right, but he explained everything perfect. I think we tipped our server more than anyone else that has ever served us.
Great overall experience!.
My boyfriend took me here for my birthday. I had been a few times before, and have always adored it, and this time was no exception! We look very young for our age, and sometimes have a problem getting quality service. Here, were treated like royalty by our great waitress!
My birthday fell on a Sunday, and we made reservations for that evening. When we got there, we realized we definitely didn't need the reservations! There were only two other groups there in the entire restaurant! You'd think it'd have been quiet, but one of the groups was a noisy wedding shower, downstairs. It was definitely bearable, though.
We got the entire shabang, with the salad (I got the mushroom salad... DELICIOUS!), cheese fondue (sharp cheddar), meat (which is absolutely amazing...) and chocolate turtle desert. I adore chocolate covered strawberries, and alwasy devour them quickly, and they offer to replenish the strawberries each time.
I can't say enough wonderful things about this restaurant. There's always more food than you can eat, and every bite of the meat (especially the filet mignon!) is delicious.
If you have room to spare, get one of their wonderful coffees (I always get the Mocha), they come with cool rock-candy to sweeten it up!
This is a splurge for us, but one that is worth it! We will probably go back for our 4th anniversary this July!
Very romantic, great service, little expensive, but special.
The reviewer from april 13 obviously had no clue where she was going. its a FONDUE restaurant. my wife and i went there Saturday night for the first time in a few years and it was outstanding. good food, and the service might be the best in Charlotte. the bartender chose a perfect bottle of wine for us, and the server chose our dessert. and i find it hard to believe she spent $114 on cheese and chocolate (which by the way, the dessert wins best of Charlotte all the time for good reason!). $60 maybe, with the rest on drinks. which, apparenty, she should have had.
only complaint was the prom kids were a little loud, but they left shortly after we got there
Guess what!. Guess what people; we have real restaurants in Charlotte with chefs that put great thought into dishes, taste and a beautiful presentation here in town. They have wonderful wait staffs that are attentive when it comes to your needs, while invisible when it comes to your intimate conversation with your fellow diners. You do not have to pay $124.00 for shared appetizers and desserts ( no entree) for 4 with all the culinary delights equal or below that of an easy bake oven! This meal consists of 2 trays of 4 cauliflowers, 1 celery stick, 6 baby carrots, one apple, a bowl of diced bread. These come with a bowl of beer and cheddar cheese, for dipping. Bon appetit! What is this? REALLY frugal football fare? But come now. I am hardly being fair. There is the delectable dessert tray. (I joke!) 2 trays (for 4 to share) each consisting of a couple of sliced strawberries, a few marshmallows, 2 one inch brownie squares, a couple of slices off a banana, and a one inch wide slice of cheesecake to share for 2 with a bowl of chocolate. I only wish I were joking! It is very wise to come here with a GREAT sense of humor, no inhibition about wasting your assets, very little appetite, and VERY VERY low expectations for your taste buds. Did I mention it is located in a strip shopping center? But to top it off a poor child across from us was writhing in pain and crying after burning herself. Has her mother not heard? If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen? Oh wait! We weren't in the kitchen! But yet, in fact we might as well have been. Two people had a couple of drinks to be fair about the tab. With this food and price it may be considered medicinal purposes.
Great place, bad night. I have visited this establishment since it came to Charlotte many times over the years, and I have found it to be full of atmosphere, fun and good food. I have always recommended this restaurant to friends and out-of-towners. It is amazing how one night with one very bad server and an apathetic and unapologetic manager can ruin what is supposed to be a special night. I am not going to go into details of a completely ruined night, but I wanted everyone else to know: Caveat Emptor? It can be a fantastic place to dine just as long as you do not complain. If you do, let us just hope your flavor of the month server, manager and upper management are much more responsive than whom I experienced. This can be true of any restaurant anywhere, but I was very disappointed to find this true for this place. Otherwise, though, bon appetit!
Unbelievable. My husband and i ate here recently for our anniversary. we had been here before, and loved it, but this time our server was the best we had ever had anywhere. David B. (don't know his last name) gave recommendations all along the way, all of which were perfect. from the wine that went best with our cheese, to the bottle we got with our entree, to the port with dessert. I had never had port and my husband had tried it before and hated it. but David brought us a taste with our chocolate, and that made all the difference. The food and atmosphere there are always great (although the AC kept me shivering untiul the entree).
