RFYL: A hub for all-things-running in Charlotte.
A whimsical stroll into run for your life in 2007, got my fat rear off the couch, and has been a major catalyst for transforming me from a 215lb fatso, to a competitive athlete. Their friendly staff "encouraged" me to check out the USAFit half marathon and full marathon running groups that trained throughout the week.
I have purchased countless pairs of shoes, running clothes, and just about anything else run-related, and I've been more than pleased with the level of service and (usually!) good product availability.
As far as previous commenters posting about stinky employees. I don't know everyone who works there, but as far as I know, all of the employees are seasoned runners. I wouldn't be surprised if one of them ran 10 miles on their lunch break.
Also, people who walk in should know a little bit about running shoes - or, let the staff know that you are completely new. When I first got started, I ran in at least 6 different pairs of shoes before I found the right fit. They let me run around their parking lot, and watched my stride in every different pair (and provided feedback).
I'd highly recommend RFYL to anyone in Charlotte looking for shoes or anything else run-related. They're not perfect, but in my 100 experiences in dealing with them, they've been very good the majority of times.
Stinky Employee. I was in the store and the guy who was helping fit me for shoes was an idiot and he SMELLED really bad. I can't believe they have an employee working with the public who has body odor as bad as this guy. This was at the Dilworth Store. I have been a runner for years and they had no clue how to find the right shoe for me. BEWARE bring your gas mask if you visit this store.
Bad Service. I left after no one even bothered to ask me if they could help me! There where 3 sales people, two of which didn't seem to be helping anyone.
