Ru San's staff sexually harassed my
wife.
My wife went to the restroom which is very close to the kitchen and as she walked past several members of the kitchen and wait staff yelled sexual innuendos at her while whistling and making lewd gestures. This happened both as she went into the restroom and came out of it. After hearing what happened I had her point out the member of staff that did this as she was visibly upset and pretty shaken up. I confronted him as he passed by and asked him if he said the things she accused him of. To my surprise he said he did and that he didn't think it was a big deal.
We had not been seated yet and if you've been to Ru San's you know that people just sort of hang out by the front waiting, which is where we were. At this point we were both very uncomfortable as other members of the staff were smiling and making it known they thought the situation was funny. I asked to see a manager even though we were absolutely not going to eat here at this point. I explained to the manager what happened but I was very surprised to hear his response. He explained to me that his staff regularly treats women like this and while he apologizes we were offended it was "just the way it is". We had been to this restaurant before and had no problems so this came as a shock to my wife and I. I asked him if he thought it was ok to yell sexually explicit comments at female customers and he replied that he did because it was all in good fun. Keep in mind other customers could surely hear the things said to my wife coming in and out of the restroom. If you are ok with patronizing an establishment that thinks it's ok to sexually harass female customers then Ru San's is your place but for the rest of us I can say I will never go there again.
There are always people there so you know its good. It has also been around for quite a long time. Love ALL of their food not just the sushi!
Went here for dinner. The food was just great! It's not very pricey and it's good value for money. I had a great waiter who frequented our table and gave some great recommendations. We had the tiger shrimp in a spicy salsa and that was just delicious! All the seafood was fresh and cooked just right. The squid was not chewy at all. The sushi was of great quality! Hope to make it to the lunch buffet sometime soon.
Great quality sushi.
the place has amazing tasting sushi..high quality. not just for a buffet but for any sushi anywhere.
if you go around 230 it's a lot less crowded.
the only knock on them is they don't serve sweat tea, which is strange.
But the sushi buffet is well worth not having tea.
Great Lunch Deal.
Okay I get the fact that its particularly loud from the masses at lunch but when your coming from downtown Charlotte from school and want sushi before going to work at south park its economical.
At less than 11$'s for all you can eat buffet and you cant pass it up especially when your pallet is begging for it. Again at lunch its crowded and loud but when your wrapped up in your meal and have time to kill its great.
Now, the service isn't the greatest, but when asking about the menu you need to talk to the fella's behind the bar.
Super Rude! If you like to be waited on don't go here!!. I had the same experience as every one else. Waited for ever for any kind of service. Food was did not come out at the same time. I watched my friend eat for 15min before my food came out. I have always been a person who tips well. I always say if you can't tip well then you have no place eating out. But also if I feel that I had poor service I don't leave a good tip. That I feel is the way to express to the server that i felt they did a poor job. Seeing as how I hardly had any contact with our server the whole night and waited for every thing... greeting, drink order, food order, ex. I left half tip of what I would have had it been any normal night out to eat. What was most appalling to me was how the water came to us as we drank our last glasses of wine and asked why his tip was so low. WOW!!!!!! Even a waffle house has more class than that!!!!! So that was my night at Ru San's.
Greatly Disappointed.
Went here for dinner with a friend, we didn't have to wait long at all to be seated. Thats where the good experience ends. The server was not helpful about answering questions regarding items on the menu at all.. we waited an extended period of time for our food which was mediocre at best, they are alittle bit too "fry it" happy here.
Our Server was MIA for the rest of the evening failing to come check on us and eventually we had to approach him to bring us our check twice which took him about 15 minutes (mind you they were not busy). And like others have stated it was really loud..so if your looking for a quiet dining experience then forget it.
Overall I was very disappointed with my visit here and won't be returning.
Cute neighborhood charm. They have a large menu and very cheap food, which makes it exciting when you're trying out new things. The wait is longer than usual and some of the wait staff is not too helpful when ordering. It seems a bit rushed all the time and it is loud, whether its the masses of people talking, the loud music, or just the Chefs welcoming or thanking patrons as they exit. Overall, a wonderful experience if you're not in any rush.
Sushi is Wonderful. If you’re looking for fine dining and quiet atmosphere then this is not the place for you. If you desire an evening out with friends where you can eat some delicious Sushi at an affordable price then it's hard to beat Ru Sans. I do have to admit that I have only ever gone there for the lunch time buffet so I'm not able to comment on the customer service issues which were mentioned in previous posts.
TWO HOURS and NO FOOD. Friday night, arrived at 8:40 and found it understandably busy. But TWO HOURS and NO FOOD. We ordered appetizers for our table of seven once we sat down, after an hour during which the staff sat people who came after us. Forty-five minutes later, still nothing. About 20 minutes after we ordered, a friend at the table called Fiamma’s, which is two doors down and ordered take-out. The ONLY food we got at Ru San’s was the Fiamma’s take-out that they brought after we’d been at Ru San’s about an hour and a half. We spent the last 20 minutes just trying to get the check for our drinks. Keep this place for lunch only, when there’s a buffet and you won’t starve. We finally left after just over two hours. The last 20 minutes, we were just trying to get our check for the drinks.
