Best Upscale Steakhouse in Town. Food, atmosphere, and service have always been superb here. I would pick Sullivan's over Mortons, the Palm, etc., any day.
Best steak in town, great service, great time. Sullivan's is my favorite steakhouse in Charlotte. I love Ruth's Chris, McIntosh's, Cap Grille, but Sullivan's is my favorite. Great menu and I love the service. I have never had a bad experience there... I recommend the filet oscar. Good for dates, work, or buddies.
Best Steakhouse in town-fun, romantic atmosphere and great steaks AND seafood.
Best in town! Perfect balance of romantic ambiance AND lively party atmosphere. Welcoming bar with great drinks, and a very comfortable dining room. Fresh flowers and boxing memorabilia fill the primary dining room, and the side room is a soft of library. Either way, as above, the balance is very nice. If you take the good half of Mortons, and the good half of The Palm, you end up with Sullivans!
Steaks are always great, very nice seafood menu, and the Lamb chops are my favorite. Don't forget desserts, as soufle' is a specialty of the house!
Great for a romantic night out, OR dinner with friends. Can't go wrong here
Celebratory Dinners, this is a great place for them!. I went with my boyfriend to celebrate a new job. I made the reservation and we arrived a few minutes early. We sat in the bar for a drink, but didn't have to wait long. The atmosphere was wonderful & our food was fantastic! It was definitely a good place for a celebratory dinner. Also would be a good choice for a romantic night.
Great place to watch MNF. It's great to have valet parking. The atmosphere is very inviting. Unlike most bars, the lcd displays were at a comfortable level as to not put a pain in your neck after watching the game for about 20 minutes. Served promptly. Staff is attractive and very attentive. Definitely a hang out spot. Oh YEAH! they play live jazz. and open til 11pm. being from NYC area, that's refreshing. this is one of the few restaturants that stay open past 10pm on weeknight. Another plus. Watch out for the buses if your ever behind one tying to get into this place.
Frank Sinatra would have loved this spiffy steakhouse chain..
In Short
Entering the art-deco library and polished wood bar--where wait-listers sip whiskies, smoke cigars and sway to jazzy piano tunes--is like stepping into a time when dining out meant more than a meal. The dining room, lined with high-walled booths and white-clothed tables, looks like a Chicago-style steakhouse in the '40s. Iceberg wedges with Maytag blue cheese is a classic start, as are the onion rings. Filet mignon and Kansas Strip are expertly grilled.
Great Place, good steak.. GREAT service, GREAT sides, GREAT drinks, GREAT selection, GREAT ambience, GREAT for business clients, but just good steak. Too bad they missed the boat on my "Cowboy" Ribeye. The escargot was amazing, and the Wedge may be the best I've ever had- 15 years of business travel takes me to LOTS of steakhouses. I'd return to Sullivan's again and again, and hope the other steaks are better than the Ribeye. Dessert was fantastic too.
Conditionally Excellent!!. You don't go to Sullivan's to eat and run. Even with a reservation, be ready for a wait. Know why? It's a VERY POPULAR place. A great atmosphere, live music, excellent food, and great drinks make it that way. So, I don't mind waiting too much.. I have eaten at all of the fine steakhouses in Charlotte, and I think Sullivan's ranks at the top right along with the best. The hostesses are not overly friendly, but I see them for about 5 seconds so that doesn't bother me. I go to have fun, not get pampered. Sullivan's sells me based on atmosphere. It's hard to combine the best of this and the best of that, but Sullivan's does it very well!! Outdoor seating and live music cap it off!!
45 Minute Wait - with Reservation -.
I have been to Sullivan's on several ocassions and I am in love with it. Having said that, my wife and I had a 8:45 reservation and was not seated until approximately 9:15. The hostess were terribly rude. However, the Maitre'd, made up for the rudeness by offering my wife and I a "make-up" dinner, on the house.
The blue cheese dressing on the lettuce wedge is to die for! The steak, a 24 oz porterhouse, was excellent - as was the Stone Crab, my appetizer. My wife had the smaller portion of the Strip and was in love with it. My only problem was the wait. Additionally, I wish they dry-aged steaks, as Ruth's Chris does - though the steak was definately a 9 on a 1 to 10 scale! Beef and Bottle is a low-class establishment that is fine if you're into supporting smoky - old restaurants.
Good place to meet. Preparing for an evening on the town? Well, Sullivan's is the place to get it started. With a reasonably priced bar menu (several tasting portions for $9.95) and some interesting choices for dinner, start your night at the bar while listening to live Jazz. Their blue cheese chips are amazing. A good place to go before you head out. Plenty of seating around the bar area and outdoor dining.
