I used to love this store, but the last couple of times I've visited I've been disappointed - not in the clothes, but the staff. Rude and do not care to help you unless you look the "part". Fresh, Scout and Molly's, and Chezelle are better stores with great staffs!
I love the selection at Sloan and they are always really helpful at putting complete looks together, even if it's just jewelry for a outfit not from there! The owners and sales people have always seemed great to me. I've worked in boutiques before and sometimes shoppers come in on the cell phone or whatever and do not even acknowledge the people working there. Sometimes people put off an attitude like they want to be left alone when shopping. There's a fine line between hovering and helping and it can be hard to read shoppers. If you go into a boutique with a chip on your shoulder and ignore the sales clerks then what can you expect? In Paris, Americans are KNOWN for being rude and not acknowledging the shop owners when they walk in a store, which to them is like walking into their home and ignoring them. Maybe shoppers in America should consider saying hello when they walk in a store??
I, too, felt like Pretty Women when I walked into Sloan for the second time. The first time I thought it was a fluke when no one acknowledged me. The other day, I walked in with jeans, T-shirt and running shoes. BIG MISTAKE! I must not have gotten the memo that what you look like on the outside is WAY more important than inner beauty. Not a "hello" or "may I help you" or anything. I stupidly bought a few things and as I checked out, the two women "working" had a conversation the entire time. Where should they go to listen to live music tonight, what jewelry they should buy that just came into the store, yadayadayada. I left feeling like I had been violated and slimed as I left the store. Maybe they have cute things (even if highly over-priced). I will never enter the store again and will tell all my friends, especially the rich ones, that the store is crappy!! I work at a company where Customer Service is the key to our success AND we talk to everyone. Maybe Sloan could take a tip!
Made me feel like Pretty Woman - Without the hooker part. I was completely ignored. No one said hello. Well, perhaps someone said hello but I'm not 100% sure it was to me. May have been to the woman who was standing in front of me who actually received service. No one asked if I was looking for something in particular. No one said, "Be with you in a moment." Nothing. One of the clients did use me as an example by pointing to me and saying, "I can wear cute things like that to work." So disappointed. I specifically went there because they carry a designer that I love and are one of the few places in Charlotte that do. I will never step foot back in Sloan or recommend them to anyone.
The Employees Will Talk. ...About you when you walk out they door! They aren't nice. But a great place to shop if you are looking to dress like a tramp at your next social function!
Great Store in Charlotte - Best Jeans!!.
I've been to Sloan a number of times now and have always found something I love! I think Charlotte could use a few more fashionable stores like this. They have beautiful clothes and best of all a wall of fabulous jeans. They have become my go-to store for new jeans. Yum. They do have some interesting jewelry but when I splurge on something in that store - it's the shoes. They have a beautiful shoe store which can get a bit pricey but then again, they are gorgeous designer shoes. You can sign up for their mailing list and get sale notifications which is great cuz they have actually have lots of sales.
I dig it. For jeans and gorgeous seasonal dresses it's the place to go for real fashion.
Not a top boutique or top boutique experience in Charlotte. Terribly over priced and customer service is poor. Do not expect to be treated fairly unless you are dressed to impress when you walk through the boutiques doors. Return policy is not one that is in good taste for a boutique. Try other boutiques in the area such as Fresh.
BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE IN TOWN.
I was reading through these reviews and was honestly shocked at some of these negative comments. A friend sent me to Sloan about a year ago and had the best shopping experience of my life. Since then I always go there first because I know I am going to get tip top customer service. It is not like most boutiques where you go in and you feel like the person behind the counter is judging what designer jeans you are wearing your why you looked like you just woke up. I have never felt anything but I was their top customer whenever I walk in the store. I don't even spend a ton of money on clothes.
The staff are extremely professional and seem very experienced and knowledgeable on their products. I give you this store a major A+ and they will continue to have my business for a lifetime.
Sloan: A MUST!!!!. There is NO WAY that the other 4 reviews below could possibly be talking about the same store as I am!!! I had a WONDERFUL experience with the sales clerics, owners, and thoroughly enjoyed my shopping experience at Sloan and will definitely come back! They carry great lines that appeal to a wide range of customers with various affordable price points. I also appreciated that the staff was helpful in working with me to find outfits and gave me their honest opinions about the fit of the clothes and did not just try to make a sale! Sloan is a great one stop shop for any female (with jewelry, shoes and accessories upstairs at Step) as well as a sale store next door called Finale! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
Not worth it. . .. I refuse to shop here even though they have great brands (brands you can find at many other Charlotte boutiques). I have never experienced such rude and condescending people. There are plenty of other great stores that carry similar merchandise and I'd much rather give my business to them.
