Shopping >Consignment First
The references below are directed towards the Matthews Consignment 1st (the original owners). PLEASE be aware that each Consignment 1st is independently owned and operated. There are several in the Charlotte area. It would also be helpful if you would call the store and voice your complaint to them directly. They do not read these comments. Each Consignment 1st has a unique twist due to the location served and the personality of the owners. I assure you other Consignment 1st locations stand ready to assist you.
Great variety and great customer service!.
I have been shopping at Consignment 1st on Independence Blvd for about 15 years. I have even consigned some of my things there although I shop there more so. They have great customer service and are over all very friendly and helpful to shoppers.
Consignment 1st is a franchise and after reading some of the reviews posted I wondered which one they may have been talking about. All I can say is the one I most frequent is on East Independence and they have a huge store with lots of great stuff and are super friendly.
Rude & Snobby - Don't Spend Your Money Here!!.
I brought some furniture up to them to sell that was very nice. A lady came to take a look at my furniture and they offered me less than half of what other consignment stores would sell my furniture for. However, they have incredibly overpriced items in their store?! Go figure!
I suggest trying Blue Chameleon in Matthews. The owner is much nicer and works with you on getting a good price for your things without her store being overly pricey.
If you don't want be treated in a rude manner I suggest going elsewhere.
worst service ever. I always go to the one on University, because I live there. I go to school there. The service at University has and always pleasant. They were always on time with me when I ring the bell, hold my items when I"m still searching for other things, they have the most wonderful customer service. They even, help you look for things that you need. Anywho, I heard that they have another consignment 1st in North Carolina which is in matthews. So I decided to drop by and take a look around. I bought a vase there, I asked the person to see if they have another one, he just literally say that's it. I'm shocked! and better yet pissed off they were the rudest people. I just don't know what to do or what to say. People, with no customer service should never work in a environment that deals with people in general.
Poor Customer Service. I am very dissatisfied and dissappointed with the way I was handled on the phone, when trying to speak to the owner or the person (their son) involved with an issue of honoring a discount to my wife. The person answering the phone claim to be the manager and refused to let me speak to the people that I asked to speak to. She instead kept cutting me off as I tried to explain our dilemna and continuously refused my request to speak to someone else. She even made unprofessional snide remarks about the discount not worth it, and the numbers of times we have called to speak about this (this was my first time) and I have yet to speak to the people that I called for. We were offered a discount when we were in the store Saturday. My wife was uncertain about the quality since it was a leather blend and not 100%, plus we wanted to secure a means of transporting it home (we live in SC-two hours away). When she inquired Monday, the son told her, that the discounts were only for the weekend. After my wife explained that she did not know this, and could he still make an exception, he agreed. By the time we could call around and find a place with a trailer rental, it was too late to travel. So my wife waited til Wednesday(just 2 days later) when she had a 1/2 day off from work to confirm that the item was still there and the discount would be honored, my was told that the discount was no longer available. She ask me to call to see if I could help, since she had her heart set on purchasing it. I didnt think that was fair to rescind on the discount (just because two days had pass, considering the fact tha we had to travel so far, purchase a rental trailer, and not to mention we were looking to spend $800-$1,000 with this purchase--which we thought was over-priced to begin with). The problem I have now is that the person answering the phone was very unprofessional and unconcerned, to not even hear me out. She had already a preconceived disposition to the situation (since she said the son had already talked to her about it), that she was not willing to sympathize, nor allow me to speak to someone that may have. At this point, it was not wether we got the discount, because we would have probably went ahead since my wife wanted it even without the discount; the fact that our concerns was not atleast heard, or handled properly, and the rudeness in the young lady on the phone, made the disappointment the more dissatisfying. Without qaulity customer service, a business will eventually fail. Without professional problem solvers, a problem will only get worse, in the hands of a person who could care less about a solution or the outcome overall--satisfying customers, the real bosses, who actually governs the payroll.
Boycott Consignment 1st. I have shopped at this establishment numerous times in the last 15 years. My husband and I walked in Sat morning. I was carrying a cup of tea from Starbucks. As I walked by the owner he said to me in front of other patrons. You must be illiterate. I continued walking with my husband thinking he was joking.. Again he said in a very loud voice." you must be illiterate!". I looked at him and smiled and he said, "It's clearly marked on the door that beverages are not allowed in MY STORE!" (My husband had an incident with his wife another time in the store) My husband looked at me and said lets go.. How rude! Not only have I shopped at HIS STORE with a cup of coffee for years but I know him and have spent a fortune in his store in the last few years. All he had to do was ask me politely that drinks were not allowed. I was unaware esp when I had been doing it for years.. I'm sorry but that Man is nothing more that a pompous A.... .. Spend your money elsewhere.. In this economy who need to shop in a store where you are treated like that.. No stars..
Thrift store junkies, once you step into Consignment World, you'll think you've died and gone to heaven..
The acknowledged leader in full service consignment, this shop was chosen as Best Consignment Store by Charlotte's Best Magazine. What makes this place so special? Well, for one thing, it features over 22,000 square feet of retail space, making it the largest of the consignment locations around. It's also been around for over 19 years and claims to sell over 2,500 items per week. You'll find furniture, antiques, collectibles, silver and glassware, decorative items, sporting goods, toys and, of course, clothing. If you're looking for a special item, this is bound to be where you'll find it.
