The Food
For lunch, Raucci's menu is typical with hot sandwiches and baked dishes, classic pasta entrees, and $4.95 daily specials served with salad and fresh bread.
For dinner, the kitchen serves a wide variety of Italian specialties from antipasto to baked dishes, pastas and fish. Nearly every dish is available in appropriate portions for the "younger guest." But don't let the fancy menu, high prices and sexy Italian words fool you. The menu has far more impact than the actual food and can set even the most optimistic customer up for a disappointment.
The salads, appetizers and entrees are very ordinary with no particular flair. Entrees are served on run-of-the-mill diner-like tableware--expect to receive butter and cream in little individual plastic containers and coffee in off-white ceramic mugs. The management tries to create a perception of service, yet some of the wait staff lacks experience, personality, initiative and speed.
The Scene
Raucci's does seem to have its fans, however. On Friday and Saturday nights the place fills up quickly and you can expect to wait up to one hour if you don't have a reservation.
