Best daycare/preschool ever

My children have beenin care for years. The center has been open almost 60 years, families stay for generations, so do teachers. Almost no staff turnover, wonderful older place. The love and caring environment feels like grandma (maybe better). When I leave I know my child will be loved and taught.

Staff are wonderful, very homey.

• Pros: Best thing next to being with them myself
• Cons: They only begin care at 2 years of age

A wonderful place

Everything about this daycare is wonderful. The director and the teachers not only care about your child but they also take an interest in your entire family. My son started there when he was two and he started kindergarten this year but can not go after school because of where we live. I do have a 3 month old, and the day she turns two she will be going there. There was not one day out of the three years he was there that I worried about him. It's funny now, looking back, because I came across the center in the phone book and hesitated because of the tuition. It was so reasonable that I was afraid of what I would find, but the director was so warm and informative on the phone I decided to check it out. Thank God I gave it a chance. He loved it and so did we.

My son loves it!

My son has been attending the Children's Center since January, 2003. He is now in Kindergarten, but still enjoys going there for after school care. He has made all sorts of friends and really likes the teachers too. They serve well-balanced meals including breakfast, and serve an afternoon snack that the kids enjoy. Playing outside on the required, safe playground equipment is always fun! Arts and craft time looks like a bunch of fun too. I have saved all my son's artwork for the last three years and have got a real kick out of it! The teachers have put great care into teaching the kids their numbers and alphabet and a variety of songs that my son still sings. They practice writing their name and learning colors. As parents, my husband and I have been very pleased with the care our son has received. It makes me feel better knowing that my son enjoys attending the Children's Center.

• Pros: Very convenient if you live in the Jackson Park area.
