The manicurist was super nice, but the
experience was not worth the $. Not to mention that it chipped two days later! I went to the cheap Asian place and it lasted 6 days and they dipped my feet in fax. Modern at Ballantyne may be great for haircuts, but not for mani pedi's.

Talk about killing an experience..
I actually stopped going to Modern Salon and Spa a while back when their men's haircuts went above $50. But I thought, why not give them anothe chance. However, this latest visit to the Modenr Salon blew me away. I went in yesterday and after a halfway decent haircut, I then proceeded to pay. At this point, I was informed that they no longer would allow tips to be place on credit cards. The poor women beside me(another client) turned and said, "I know, I hate it. I now have to bring two forms of payment every time I come here!" She then proceeded to pull out her checkbook. Checkbook? Who in the world still carries a check book. After further discussions, I was informed that this a way for the company to cut it's overhead tax liabilities because these additional dollars may be viewed as taxable revenue, verse the actuall stylist's income. I really hope there is some othe huge reason. I would really hate to think that instead of paying the extra couple of dollars in taxes, and making the experience smooth, that they would force me to leave (I didn't have any cash, or heaven forbid my checkbook on me), go to the bank and then come back to tip the stylist. What a complete and unbelievable hassel.
I tried to give modern a chance, but that killed the experience. I hope saving this cost is worth it. It lost one person and 100% profit of $0 is still $0. To other patrons looking to go there make sure you bring more than one form of payment.
