Great Addition to the Epicentre.
There is no question about it that Vida is a great addition to the already restaurant heavy Epicentre. This isn't really Tex-Mex but great Mexican inspired food.
The guacamole is wonderful and plentiful. The sides are ridiculously good. Order the plantains. You'll thank me later. I would literally go for a dinner of nothing but plantains if I thought I could get away with it.
The atmosphere is great and is a nice blend between the fun of the Epicentre and a place to enjoy some food.
There are only a few negatives. I thought the drink menu was average and the drinks themselves were only okay at best. I've been more than once and it's gotten a bit better but this needs improving. In other words there are better places to get a good drink. Also the main dishes are good, not amazing which is odd because the sides are amazing, beyond good. It's not a criticism but each time I've gone I've kicked myself for eating too much of the main dish and not ordering extra sides.
Overall this is a great place to meet friends, first dates or even business entertaining.
By the way, did I mention the plantains???
Great atmosphere & food.
My friend and I decided to take advantage of the gorgeous weather and sit outside on the patio. The patio is a great place to people watch being on the corner of Trade and Church. The Hostess and waitstaff were on point and very attentive.
We shared the Queso Chipotle Dip, Chicken Tamal and vida Ceviche Cocktail. The dip was great and was large enough to feed five. The tamal was good but a bit bland for my liking. The ceviche could also have been a meal in itself. I love the flavor & texture the jicama added to the dish. I'm looking forward to trying more items on their menu.
