Good food and great bartender. I had a blast here with some friends! amazingly entertaining bartender! good food...not the absolute best but still really good!!! def worth checking out! great location and great place for large groups of people!
Delicious. We had chips & 3 kinds of salsa within a minute of sitting down. The green salsa was especially good - and the server brought several bowls of it over the course of our meal. The service was friendly and quick. The tacos are a great buy - and the beef brisket soft taco that I had was amazing - the beef was melt in your mouth tender and also warmly flavorful. I also thought the charro beans had great flavor and texture. This is not just another buttery, salty tex-mex place - the different foods have their own actual flavors! And on the cheap!
Unique Flavors, great menu.
I really enjoyed my first visit to Paco's. The salsa and queso (especially the salsa) tasted great. Immediately you can taste a noticeable difference from most mexican restaurants in a good way. We went on a Tuesday, which was 1/2 off bottles of wine, probably the reason were were the only males in there...not sure about wine with Mexican food.....how about a beer or tequila special along with the wine thing?
For the main course I went with the recommended Paco's Tacos which are beef brisket tacos with caramelized onions bbq chipotle that tasted great. I ordered 2 hard shells and one flour...and got 3 hard shells...no biggie. Once I bit into the tacos, they fell apart and with one bite I had all the beef in my mouth at once. Basically, make sure you ask for flour here with the beef tacos.
Overall, service was friendly and fast....refills on salsa, chips and dos equis came right when we needed them.
I'll have to visit again to get a better feel for the menu, but everything looked good and I will definitely be back soon to see if they'll get me to a 5 star.
Also, huge props to whoever manages the Twitter for the restaurant as they actually responded to me....that is a first for a restaurant or bar in Charlotte for me!!
A New Southpark Restaurant Worth Checking Out.
Had dinner in the new Paco's Taco & Tequila this weekend and was surprised on how good the experience was. We sat outside on their small patio which was pleasant, and the waitstaff was very attentive and aimed to please.
We started off with the queso, which was different than normal quesos. This queso appeared to be a little different than usual queso's and seemed to have a hint of cheddar, which added some new flavors to a typically monotone queso. The complimentary salsa and chips are great. Chips were salted perfectly and the salsa had a unique spice to it unlike other commercial salsas i've had recently.
As far as the menu goes, it's fairly deep. Enough to please everyone. Quesadillas, Tacos, Fajitas, Traditional tex-mex plates...etc. I had the two taco meal; one steak with guacamole, onions and cheese, it was fantastic. But...The taco to try is definitely "Paco's Taco". This slow cooked spicy beef brisket taco is off the charts. You get a huge helping of extremely juicy and tender meat in a tortilla of your choice (homemade flour or corn) with BBQ sauce and onions topped with queso fresco. Huge thumbs up there. The side dishes are interchangeable as well so I decided to opt for the BBQ corn and red rice. Both full of flavor and well worth it to try. Tacos also come with a small portion of slaw which is a nice touch.
They claim to be a tequila bar as well, and on this side, they do fulfill. I think I saw over 20 tequilas on their menu. On Friday's they have $10 Tecate buckets.
My only real disappointment, there really wasn't that many tacos to chose from. With a name Paco's Tacos, you'd think that there would be more than 5 or 6 tacos. I understand that if you give people too many choices, it could intimidate people, but I'd suggest adding a couple more tacos, maybe even a build your own taco, that would be a new concept for me at a sit down restaurant.
